Hey Timeless!
I was playing on a modded server last night (silver skull). The only thing they changed on that server was no kill cam.
And I must say, it was awesome! Itīs been so long since I played on a server like that and it really brought me back to that Battlefield feeling. When playing normal mode, I cant help think after everytime Iīve killed a player, that he now knows where I am or were.
I was wondering about what you guys think about making a test server for different modes.
I am thinking about changing one of our less popular servers to a test server, where we can test different modes and names on the server to see what people like.
Iīd personally see that we changed all our servers to no kill cam so one could play as one used to play the older Battlefield games.
But I really donīt see what harm it could do to change 05 to a test server. A server where we could try out different Server names to see what appeals to people, what game modes appeal. Could also run weekly/monthly polls on what mode or mod we should play next week/month.
Please give your opinions on this Timeless.

If you speak about modded servers, then you speak about servers,
that don't use the official settings. These servers have to be unranked.

I am not talking about those kind of mods, I am talking about silver skull modded servers.
but yesterday i played with maclurg and shutup on a server where a sniper killed me 2 times ... and if there were no killcam i dont saw him sitting on a tree oO .
but the idea is quite good i think.only because of that thing with that sniper yesterday...btw was it cheating? never saw someone sitting on a tree(on the top of a tree)

How do you think people learned to play against snipers in all the other BF titles? :P
You learned where snipers hide or where they are shooting from, you then look for him and slowly narrow the possible hiding spots down, until you find him :) That is Battlefield! No Kill cam telling you where he is or heading after he killed you or you killed someone else.
This kill cam thing is in my opinion for people that canīt figure out where the enemy is.
You also get the bullet traveling "dust" or trail what ever youīd like to call it. And if you get hit and you donīt die by the first shot, you get a hit indicator telling you from which direction itīs coming from.
I found an awesome server, I suggest you try playing without kill cam on this one. Search for "Battlefield.Ge" or "battlefield.ge" I donīt remember exactly which one of those it is (search function in BC2 is case sensitive). Itīs a clan called [GEO] that runs. Iīve had a blast on that server these past two days, playing without kill cam really gives back that Battlefield feeling. You can snipe someone and he doesn't instantly get to know where you are, this opens op for much better infiltration possibilities of the enemy bases.
I really think we should try it out. Call the server "Timeless 05 Classic Battlefield style" or something like that, even though the 3D spotting still is ON.
ps. And snipers sitting in trees is not cheating :P I think you can sit in trees in pretty much every map in BC2 :)

yea the "old Battlefield" feeling was lost with 2142 i think. BF2 was the real BF ever . but BC2 makes also fun,but not with that feeling :)
I agree for a Test Server if i can vote at my Level now here ;)
this would be great cous it make it harder and it helps to get better at it so this would be good :)
I say we take 05 and test it on that one as it sits empty almost all the time. What is there to loose, seriously.
I am also still waiting on an answer on why and who closed this thread? I seriously wanna know whats up with that!

I am all up for trying things but 05 has been doing quite well recently its more popular that 02 and 04.

he mean only to turn off the death cam no more mate so if it goes bad we change it back to on again

ok, servers all started, Rush 2 and CQ 2 are running killcam = off
Lets see how they run!

well the kill cam is only a setting that you can change to on or off so he only needs to change it then well see how it will end hopefully good :) if that what you were wondering :P

All our servers were epic fail back then, because no one kick started them.
We just had them hanging there.
It doesnt matter, I am talking about a test server for different modes, we have never done that. We could try different 24/7 maps.
And frankly speaking, I donīt see why it should be such a problem to widen our horizon a bit.

Kharak I wasnt saying anything about the idea of changing game types -
I am all up for trying things
the point of my post was that there are servers less popular than 05 to try it on ie 02 and 04
I would say use 02 as its always the hardest one to fill.
And when the patch comes out with the 4 new maps I guess we will be looking again at whats on the various servers, so why not try things out on 02 until the patch is released.
yeah take 02 its like allways empty when the other servers are full
I donīt care which server, I see a lack of interest for new things here.
There are countless of combinations we could do, mix best of rush with best of CQ maps.
Lets say Timeless 02 - Valpa/Panama 24/7. The two best maps in the game. Or we run 4 maps on that server 2 Rush and 2 CQ. Valpa and what ever other map is most popular for Rush. CQ maps would be Laguna Alta and Panama Canal.
Would be best to mix them together like start off with Rush, CQ, Rush and then CQ then repeat.
or call the server Timeless 02 - Best of BC2 (people like to hear "best" "Super" "awesome" "action")

about the mixed one, sounds good, but i dont know jidhaxor can mange it with the deamon
I know itīs possible.
Iīve played on a server like that, Iīve also played on a server that had all modes, yes all modes! 32 player cq, then 32 Rush, then 16 SQDM and then 8 SQRush... <---- Donīt ask me why they had this.

Much better than kill cam on... you really need to concentrate where the enemies are and now when people know the maps, they instantly know your exact place when kill cam is on. Also you cannot see has that place many enemies or just one which killed you. But negative is that you cannot see what kind of mayhem you are spawning to :lol1:

We didnt see what mayhem we spawned in to on BF2142 either ;) It worked out just fine.
