I'll start with this... The future release of 3DMark (2007) will be DirectX10 only... heres the news i read....

THE UPCOMING iteration of 3DMark will only be available for Windows Vista and DirectX10 In a bog post to the Futuremark website, Nick Renqvist says that "the next generation 3DMark will be Windows Vista only, and will require DX10 compliant hardware."
So why no fallback to DX9? Nick cunningly anticipates this point. "You may ask: Why not fallback to DX9 then?" Yes Nick, we just did. "Well, we already have a Vista enabled DX9 benchmark (3DMark06) and the last three 3DMarks have all been DX9".
So there you have it. Unless you're in the cool boys club with a nice GeForce 8x00 or Radeon 2x00, you won't be able to run a pointless number-generating programme with no actual real-world worth. So you might want to cry a little.
Interestingly, Nick says that the latest 3DMark will contain volumetric effects, based on DX10, that will bring "cinematic rendering" quality to the series. We've been waiting for cinematic rendering on our PC ever since Nvidia announced that it would be available to us all thanks to the awesome power of the GeForce FX5800. It still isn't

GFX - R650 Late summer ??

According to a report at Fudzilla, AMD/ATI plan to release the follow-up product to R600, the R650 in Q3. The author claims the R650 will be at the heart of the Radeon HD 2950 XTX coupled to 1GB of GDDR4 memory. "ATI hasn't launched the R600 yet and it is already planning its next launch of a die shrinked version. It won't be launching the 1024 MB graphics card until Q3. It plans to launch the R650 chip and brand it as Radeon HD 2950XTX, 1024 MB GDDR4.
The chip is called R650 and it is a 65 nanometre core, how convenient. With this new chip ATI might have a fighting chance against the Geforce 8800 Ultra, but the real question is what will Nvidia have at that time."

Ultimate Internet speeds... how's 9.08 Gbps sound to you?

A group of researchers at University of Tokyo set new records.
9.08 Gbps over a 20,000km link - a new speed record for the Internet.
With the theoretical capacity of the link being 10Gbps, achieving over 90% efficiency on such a long link is nothing to be sneezed at - as a matter of fact, it is quite impressive!
However, the Internet2 consortium is planning to build a new network with a capacity of 100 Gbps. With the 10-fold increase, a high-quality version of the movie “The Matrix” could be sent in a few seconds rather than half a minute over the current Internet2 and two days over a typical home broadband line.
Oh my... won't the RIAA and MPAA get their knickers in a twist....
The record for IPV4 (the current standard) is 8.8Gbps

WONDER IF WE'D STILL GET LAG?? Of course we would, wouldn't we EA?

MSI HD 2900XT... some nice new pixs of MSI's sexy card here...

http://www.nordichardware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?topic=8452&forum=28

As the high-end R600 cards require an 8-pin PCI-Express power cable to be plugged into the corresponding connector (look at the pictures of the HD 2900XT and OEM XTX) especially if you intend to overclock these, power supply manufacturers started to design adapter cables for their current iteration of PSUs that don't come with 8-pin PCIe cables natively.

More spending on PSU's....

Future HDD's.

http://news.com.com/A+divide+over+the+future+of+hard+drives/2100-1008_3-6108687.html

I read recently that 3.5" Hard drives could potentially have capacities of 5TB by 2010 and up to 50TB by 2015 (50TB !! ) using HAMR technology... Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording... read about HAMR here... http://www.newsfactor.com/perl/story/19209.html
U could get a lot of home-made dirty vidz on these drives lol ;)

Nvidia is working hard on two chips. The next one in line is G90, just a smaller version of G80 while the next real chip is codenamed G100
