Hi Guys

Well finally had BB connected today and well its not working, I have connected to the main BT socket via the adsl filter using all provided cables etc and it cannot find the telephone line, The line is working as i unplugged and made some calls on it to be sure, I moved everything into another room to try again and this time it did detect the phonline except it max'd out at 0.19 mbps may aswell be dial up lol, i phoned o2 and they said that my line may still not be active fully and that i had to wait till midnight to night before they could put the problem through, if this is the case why is bedroom phone socket working and not my BT one? Any ideas? im happy to wait till morning but its killing me i have a tiny bit of connection after 2 weeks of none,

Hope to see you soon,

m000

Yea i dont have a home phone as me and the mrs only use our mobiles,

The main BT plug is now working but speed is no faster steam is updating at 24 kb/s flat out and internet is very slow, gonna have to phone o2 again tomorrow i think, ive heard it can take time for your connection to settle and i know the area isnt that fast around 1-2 meg at peak times based on a freinds BT connection, but speedtest shows me at 0.24 meg, im moving house again if this is all i can get!

Thanks

A new broadband order normally takes up to 2 weeks at the most to settle and become stable. During that time (from what I remember) the line speed is tested by the ISP's automated systems and the optimal speed is found. That means the connection speed can drop or cut off completely for short periods of time.

You might just have to give it a week or two and let it stabilize.

I've got all this fun to come when I come back online on the 2nd August.

Hehe yeah, that's why when I got my flat I made sure the internet was working before I moved in!

Yep had similar problems with my Virgin set up when I moved here last month. The connection has now sorted it's self out, but is painfully slow. Have 10mb BB but Virgin say the line is only capable of up to 2mb. :(

Well looks like my gaming days are over,

o2 called today to tell me that the lines are wired incorrectly and that they have been fixed, went online and got a whopping 1mb shortly after 12 pm this has dropped to 0.8 mb and tried playing with Jid ealier and alll i got was a load of laaaag, technically i should still be able to play on 0.8 but its not even peak time yet so im not feeling good about tonight, BT say they have no plans to improve the line for the next 2 years something to do with the optics burning out hence why were on a really old copper line, if i pay £2k i can get a mast put up but then i would be paying for the estates imterweb somone has already tried to go round and collect for it but no ones interested as there houses are closer to the main line and they get nearer 4 mb proper bummed out now,

Ahh that's a pain, and bad news. I thought BT and the government here made a big song and dance about rolling out super fast BB asap to make the UK the best connected in Europe! I don't suppose Virgin is in your area??

I gave up playing 2142 last night as punkbuster kept kicking me for an average ping of 350! Different issue I know, but its frustrating.

ive got nearly the same problem (although obviously I can play)
8mb/s broadband and I get a best of 2.5Mb/s
cant get cable (even though my house was pre-wired up when it was built) because of some council issue.
so im left with an only just adequate connection.

silly question, anyone in your area got a superfast unlocked wifi? the latency might be a pig, but you might get a better connection
