:woohoo: another USB 3.0 and SATA 3 mainboard is announced.

There are two versions of the board but the only difference I can see between the two version is the warranty. :dunno:

300 for a board while everyone knows Intel will change their socket again in Q1 of 2011, what a waste. Would wait for the Bulldozers, they will still running same socket, but AMD wiil also bring new boards with new chipsets to support triple channel like the X58s ( but CPUs will also running same old AM3/AM2+ boards ). My guess is AMD will go for the crown like they already did in graphic segment, they got it and saw what Intel got bonifed by the Multithreading possebilitys of their CPUs. But the new Bulldozers 8 cores will handle 16 Threads and they come out Q1-Q2 in 2011, also with 32nm and with a lot of new Stepping improvement. Ye Intel stand for quality, they have proven to be the best solution for companys ( working machines, like u compile all day long or Video coding etc etc, guess everybody remember the good old Intel Logo on the NASA Space Shuttles ), but when it comes to innovation AMD is leading since 2002. I mean : who broke the 1Ghz barrier ? who built special 3D pre-math on their CPUs for better gamesupport wile intel still stucked with the simple math on the P3 ? who built the 64 bit technology ? who intoduced Tesselation in 2004 with their 3000 series and then worked later together with microsoft on the DX technology ? Intel did nothing while that 6 years for gamers, ye more stable, more quality, triple channel while it brings technicaly no boni for gamers today. And also who integrated the RAM Controller into CPU first, lol intel waited 4 years to see how AMD was doing ( AMD is using PtP Protocoll like QTP or HTP since 5 years now ) and after they saw it works better with RAM ( lol what is technicaly so easy to get ) they just copyed the technic and upgraded the AMD HTP to their CPUs and renamed it from HTP to QTP ( remember AMD is using this technic for about 5 years now , they founded it ). As i said when u compiling all day long or u are doing videocoding , or u are at work, an intel is the best solution to be productive because of the Energy Efficiency and the Multithreading. But on the Innovation side and especialy in the gaming segment AMD wears da crown since 2002, and i bet they will go now very heavy in Multithreading with their Processors against intel after they saw the stable success of HT technology, but they will do it now on hardwareside, no virtual cores like intel, the new Bulldozers will have 8 cores with each core is divided in 2 hardware cores. I guess they will go the better way than intel with their new Sandy Bridge, i mean they integrade a GPU like GTX260 into the main CPU die, i mean what imense heat this would produce omg, so u can see intel goes the office way to be most productive for companys. Could write so much more, but that would go realy deep in hardware knowledge. Lmao how much i wrote here, just a few facts to maybe let u decide what u realy need if u just want to play computergames speedy :) So as said, wait for intels new socket, because if u would buy this board now u can change in 8 months again.

AMD/ATI/INTEL/NVIDIA have frog jumped each other for years and for years you can wait 'just another few months' for a new device/platform/architecture/technology.

If you want something, don't wait, go buy it now or you'll always be waiting (and paying more) but this obviously depends on personal factors and needs at the time.

If i was to buy from scratch, obviously the new 6x phenom is a wise choice but like me, if you have a skt775 platform (Q6600) its no use upgrading and even then i doubt very much

i'd spend 300 Euro's or £'s on a mobo.

Personally i'm waiting to see what 8x CPU's will perform like, whatever company makes them and gives me the best bang per £, while giving me a very noticeable and worthy upgrade.

Horses for courses :)

ye a lil truth in it, but no at all correct H0RN, as written AMD technic didnt changed since 5 years, same socket, all CPUs came out running same mobos and also the integrated RAM controller ( wich like already written copyed by intel after AMD used it already for about 5 years ) was built with DDR2 and DDR3 support to bring it to everybody even those who dont want to upgrade every 12 months. These technics were copyed by intel as written, but intel set more on quality instead of bring it out as possible solution to everyone they just did DDR3 triple channel ( no longer DDR2 support ) and copyed the RAM control thingi method and that was all ! On AMD u can easy put a Phenom x6 on a 6 year old mobo and its running perfect ( except the energy waste of the southbridge and the DDR2 but thats another thingi ;) ) and u also can run everything u want, DDR2 or DDR3 doesnt matter. On Intel systems u had to change 4 times the socket to reach all this ;) And i hope u know the differences between the 10-20 watts and the 2-8 Frames more u get with a system that costs 4 times more to its competitior from concurency, as written Intel is the PlusUltra for companys to be productive, but for gamers its simply a waste.

I see a lot of fancy computer words and numbers.. But I am waaay too drunk to understand anything at this point.

ALl I know is! That I want one of these mobos with chuck full off Nvidias and i7 cores :P

what this comes down to as always is AMD's future-proofing vrs Intel's screw the upgrader lets change our platform constantly penny pinching
Intels chips are better by a long way - fact
AMD's whole platform is better by a long long long way fact
I have a AM3 chip in a AM2+ board, If my chip broke tommorow I could go out and buy a top of the line phenom II X6 and just drop it in
when the X8 cores come out I will be able to do the same
If I had an Intel MOBO i wouldnt be able to do this and would have to buy a new MOBO
extra expense + ridiculous overpricing of Intels cores = WHY bother
as Ive said before unless (like kharak) you do a lot of video encoding then there is no point at all in having a high end Intel chip
in the real world CPU performace for everything from gaming to general usage is easily coped with by AMD
and AMD are cheaper for directly comparible cores....so whats the point of spending all those extra bucks so you can have a good benchmarking score???
dont get me wrong, if i suddenly found a few grand spare I would build the best system I could and that would have to include a i7 at the minute. but like most peeps I havnt got a few grand spare so I go with real world performance over shiny power.

oh and back on topic
$300 + for a MOBO???? you are having a laugh........... If anyone actually buys this at this price I have some magic beans you might want to purchase too.........USB3 compatable..lol

as an example, had this i7 setup for about 1 year now, just looked at the prices 2 weeks ago, and if i would get the same setup today, i would have to pay more than i did 1 year ago :)

lol thats just wrong.. you got a good deal there then.

but tbh this is my problem with Intel, for the last few yesrs they have ruled the roost with there brilliant CPU's. the problem is however that they just seem to constantly jump around with each ne gain in technology swapping sockets etc.
to my mind this makes them a problem for the poweruser, its ok if you have lots of cash to upgrade everything at once, but a lot of users upgrade gradually, and I for one dont want to buy a new MOBO every time I stick a new chip in my PC.
AMD have got this just right as far as im concerned. you just know that when AM4 is eventually developed you will still be able to drop it into a AM3 (or lower) socket without any problems.
and its this sort of customer friendly support that I value.

AMD has not only this, u called it future proofed technic lol, their technic is since the Barthon more in directed for gamers ( as i wrote the 3D pre-math sentence, CPU->GPU Streaming technology, tesselation etc etc ), while Intel went their normal way for companys ( productive/energy-efficiency, most bandwidth with DDR3 ). I m not on any Producer side lolz, i m running intel since 5 years, but after what Intel and NVIDIA did last year with their monopolism crime ( they payed 2 Milliard Euro to Cartell ) is far away from my technical and humanic kind. I was running AMD and Intel systems at same time in the 90s, but later i went on an Intel only trip, and it was fail. After i studied over the past 2-3 years again about their technologys and background, i now go more for AMD cause they lead with user friendly Innovation and scienced technology.

@bert : we all hope ya CPU will not breake down tomorrow
@ Fehn : be lucky u got a good price :) now u can do the math for the NASA
@ H0RN : i love some technichal discussion any time ;) and u are right with ya budget-bang thingi hehe

just wanted to point some facts out, now its ur decision speedy u wait for the new sockets or just buy now and upgrade later ;)
