Sound settings

So what kind of setups do you use...

I have an X-FI card, but i think its not so important at this game.
Now i have at SpeakerCount:2 and x-fi console have headphones... But yesterday i read threads where was suggested to have example 5.1 sounds at game and let the console be at headphones -> better surround sounds when gaming. Can anyone confirm this ? I have not much knowledge about sounds settings at generally...

I will test suggested setup at next time when i play, so change 5.1 at BC2... funny thing that settings.ini has little different count system for speakers..

Hmm, tested it and i really cannot say are there difference between the settings... maybe should test them at empty server...

I´m also wondering what kind of settings I should use for my sound.

I have mine set to 8 because I use a 7.1 surround sound speaker set. From what I understood when I looked into it, you need to set the channels to how ever many speakers you have, so 7.1 (7 speakers + subwoofer) = 8 audio channels (1 channel for each speaker and the subwoofer).

I don't know what you would have to set it to when using a headset. USB surround sound headsets often use software to emulate surround sound, so I'm not sure if the software would need extra audio channels. I suppose you will have to set the game to use surround before you will notice a difference in a surround sound headset, or it will only play stereo through them. If your headset is just stereo, I doubt you will notice any difference by setting surround sound in the game because the headset won't support it.

Well, my headset is just stereo, but x-fi card can emulate surround and it works relatively well... just found also right settings to get it to work at BC2 also:
Windows: 5.1
Game: 5.1
X-FI (THX) console: headphones + cmss-3d on

I have not bought any soundcard, but the soundcard on the mobo does have some kind of advanced features, but when I reinstalled to Win 7 I lost my soundcard program, so now I´m quite lost with all these settings and so on.

Not that I am in such a hurry to get better sound, I´ll be buying a new sound system soon because my old B&O speakers are blown :(
