I've known that my Corsair 620W PSU might be boarderline capable to run my system now i've

added a 5970 gfx card.

I had a few crashes in BC2 yest-d and looked everywhere to solve this issue. I also got some driver restarts

with a notable on screen graphic pattern prior to the imminent crash each time.

Back of my mind is the PSU but what I did to temp solve this issue might be of some use to others:

I thought there may be an issue with software or remnants of my previous cards drivers (Nvidia drivers)

I used driver sweeper to clean up any files left behind after uninstallation of Nvidia's driver package.

Not sure if this helped but on reboot following this clean I also switched my PCI-e power connectors which were connected to my GFX card

there is an 8 pin and a 6 pin connected to my gfx, with a 6 pin to 8 pin converter on one of the outputs.

I simply switched the 6 to 8 pin converter from one of my PCI-e 6 pin leads and put it on the other.

....So far no crashes and no visual 2d glitches before a driver restart, which was nagging me aquite a few times a day.

I think this may be a temp fix and will likely get the crashes again soon enough, lets see.

I will be looking at a new PSU in any case now and i'm looking at the Corsair 1000w Modular PSU.

Corsair make some very reliable PSU's and plus I have a lot of modular leads from the 620 that I can use with this PSU also.

We were talking about PSU´s that other day, Hornet as you might recall. But that PSU looks too big for my cabinet. Is that a special size?

Its standard ATX but slightly elongated so you'd have to consider a little more room on the output side. Some of the 900watt plus PSU's

have more components inside.
