View Full Version : Kharak need of technical support... AGAIN.... :P
Well my prime computerīs SSD got some kind of fatal error. Luckily my warranty covers that !
That being the 5th time that computer getīs sent in for repairs regarding a drive.
Anyways... Now we digging in the dirt here!
1. I got my old PC again for the 5th time ;) But I need help! This PC started getting REALLY noisy 3 years back.. I talked to some friends of mine and they all gave their different ideas on what might have been wrong (basically I got used to it). Some said it was a Virus that makes the fan go 100% all the time or irregularly.. Well I just downloaded GPU-Z and found out that the Fan is going 100% all the time at 56 degreeīs while GPU Load, Memory Controlled load and Video Engine Load are all on 0% .
If it is virus related then has the virus deleted some kind of "fan regulating file" or is a virus somehow controlling the fanīs speed? I am guessing on the first part, cause Iīve had the newest of the new AVG anti virus for almost a year now and done a lot of Virus scans and never found anything.
2. My CPU cooler is also going nuts all the time and as with my GPU it does not add up with what I am using my computer on. I have a G15 keyboard and I see on performance that it does not add up at all with what I am using my computer for.
I can be on Paint and the CPU goes to a 100% and then later I can play BF2142 and itīs down on 50%.. The cooler though is completely retarded. Absolutely anoying to listen to as it goes from 0% speed to 100% constantly.
Any Ideas ? I did CClean yesterday and Defrag (Not that it would fix any GPU/CPU issues) just saying.
Computer Specs:
Win XP (32 bit)
Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz
Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT
4 gb ram (though I doubt I am getting 4 gigs)
HELP ME!!!! I am in the mood of bixing with my computer ;)
Some more info needed m8.
What is your motherboard make/model?
Check any settings in your BIOS related to auto fan control/climate control/media pc and note the bios version (check for updates for bios, there may be a known issue with the mobo) - change to manual or try selecting another option if possible - optimal, performance, power saving etc
While you're waiting, update your sound and gfx drivers to the latest.
Take a screen of task manager's processes, list alphabetically if you can and post here.
It looks like you could easily put windows 7 64bit on this PC, consider this m8y, you are not benefitting from your 4gb RAM ;)
Motherboard: Fujitsu Siemens
Model: D1826-G
PCI-Express x16
I went to Fujitsu website and downloaded a some drivers.. But there are no installation files only Secure copies and Installation information files or something like that. And they are all zip files, do I need to extract them to a specific location?
do I need to extract them to a specific location?
See whats in the package, they'll probably be in the form of an .exe, if not in raw driver file form, in which case unzip to any location, go to the device in system properties and update driver pointing to the location of the driver files you've unzipped.
Sorry they were all in Zip files is what I meant.
I unzipped them and thatīs when I saw they were secure copies and information files etc.. Only one .exe file that didnīt do anything.
Normally it is required for you to copy the files from the website onto a floppy disk/USB stck and restart the system then use a utility within CMOS to flash the bios
from your manula for MOBO
BIOS update
When should a BIOS update be carried out?
Fujitsu Siemens Computers makes new BIOS versions available to ensure compatibility to new
operating systems, new software or new hardware. In addition, new BIOS functions can also be
integrated.
A BIOS update should always also be carried out when a problem exists that cannot be solved with
new drivers or new software.
Where can I obtain BIOS updates?
The BIOS updates are available on the Internet at www.fujitsu-siemens.de/mainboards.
How does a BIOS update work?
You have two ways of doing this:
1. BIOS update under DOS with bootable BIOS update floppy disk - brief description
► Download the update file from out website to your PC.
► Insert an empty floppy disk (1.44 MB).
► Run the update file (e.g. 1826103.EXE).
► A bootable update floppy disk is created. Leave this floppy disk in the drive.
► Restart the PC.
► Follow the instructions on screen.
i
Detailed information on the BIOS update under DOS is provided in the manual on "BIOS
Setup" ("Drivers & Utilities" CD).
2. BIOS update under Windows with DeskFlash utility
A BIOS update can also be carried out directly under Windows with the DeskFlash utility. DeskFlash
is contained on the "Drivers & Utilities" CD (under DeskUpdate).

newest deskflash link (http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/download/ShowDescription.asp?SoftwareGUID=CDCEA774-9A1A-4309-9F4A-950D449CF73C&OSID=665F4A20-6E31-43C3-82C2-D98CE773007C&Status=True&Component=Flash%20-%20BIOS)
hmmm... the word flobby and disk put together gives me chills. But I need to update the Bios, but I only found one .exe file in the updates I downloaded. Maybe DOS will see some of the files as .exe or something like that?
And now I am upgrading this computer to Win 7 should I get the BIOS updates first? or after I get Win 7?
And that BIOS link and Desk Flash link are those updates for my model?
EDIT (2):
Hehe ok I wrote some weird stuff in my previous edit here.
The BIOS update that goes by Flobby disc formats and writes itself on a flobby disc.. I just hope when I start the computer it will boot from the flobby or something like that.
But in both Bios updates be it by Desk Flash or Flobby it says "- Set Spread Spectrum "Disabled" instead of "Enabled" by default.". What does this mean?
EDIT (3): BIOS Update Complete.
Question nr. 8 If I install a new OS on this computer do I need or will all hdd be deleted by the new OS? I have 3 hdd in this computer. Would be nice if I could store all the important stuff from this computer on one of my drives.
Regarding your hard drives and new OS, it would be best to backup anything from your primary drive(s) that you want to keep on to one of those other drives. I believe that Windows 7 has an upgrade/data transfer option within it that saves all your data/settings and applies them to Win7 once it's installed, but I'm not 100% sure on that so it's best to do it manually anyway.
Once you're done with the other drives, take them out of your PC so only your primary drive(s) is left. This will make installing the new OS easier because there won't be multiple drives to choose from. After the new OS sorted, you can plug the other drives back in and use them for what ever you want. Many people believe that setting the system pagefile on a different drive from the one that is running the OS can improve performance, but I don't know if that will make a difference when you're using an SSD.
only vista an be upgraded to win7 without wiping the partition
you can use windows transfer (google it) to backup files when you change to win7
or as you are using xp32 bit like i was before my upgrade; what i found easiest was to manually backup my files and then put win7 on a fresh partition on my main HDD.
you an only do this if you have a partition spare.
the boot priority is set by win 7 to the new partition as the first boot partition on POST (hence becomes your new C: drive) but you still get the option to boot the old xp if needs be
that way if you forget to backup something you will still have it available as you can navigate into the old drive to retreve files
one you are happy the old XP partition an be deleted when needed.
I installed Win 7 (32 bit) without problem. Formated C: Drive before installing Win 7 just too keep everything nice and clean and kept my secondary drive with all the important stuff on it.
Computer is running good. Still get a lot of noise though. But my GFX fan speed seems to run normal now. In Win XP it would run on 100% no matter if GPU Load was down on 0% or what ever.
Kharak, why not 64 bit m8, u have 4gb ram. 64 bit is more powerful also.
64 Bit is not compatible with Pentium 4. I was told that I need Duo Core at minimum to be able to install 64 Bit OS.
And I did try to install the 64 Bit version but the Bios said it was not compatible.
But itīs cool! I got 64 bit on my other computer :)
