Hope it will resemble more the first game. F.E.A.R 2 was a complete failure in my point of view.

There were two good parts in FEAR 2 itīs in the start in the first mission sitting in the APC (BOOO!!) and in the end... ehm... kinda getīs weird there ;)

The first F.E.A.R game is though still my favorite of those games.

But both games have very good AI. Actually think itīs one of the best AIīs Iīve ever encountered.

Day 1 will be taking over for Monolith

Looks like F.E.A.R. is back, as Warner Bros Interactive has announced that Day 1 Studios will be at the helm of the next installment to simply be called F.E.A.R. 3. Previous developer Monolith has transitioned the franchise off to Day 1 Studios going forward, so it looks that we can expect the franchise to continue.

The new F.E.A.R. 3 will get some interesting help in the form of John Carpenter, the film director responsible for popular horror films such as The Thing and Halloween. In addition, comic writer Steve Niles will also be involved. While the total impact of the involvement of these two is a bit unclear at this point, our sources suggest that they will be shaping the horror aspects of the game as well as Niles’s involvement in the development of the script as a co-writer.

The biggest new thing that we can expect from F.E.A.R. 3 is the addition of the new co-op multiplayer modes. New unique abilities are also on tap for both the Point Man and Paxton Fattel. The release date is not yet confirmed, but it is said to be on track for fall of this year. Expect F.E.A.R. 3 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms when it does arrive.

Monolith's horror shooter series F.E.A.R. will return this fall in F.E.A.R. 3, publisher Warner Bros. has announced, handled by Fracture and F.E.A.R. console port developer Day 1 Studios.

F.E.A.R.'s silent protagonist Point Man will return as the star, though his brother Paxton Fettel will also be playable in the shooter's "divergent co-op" mode, where each have "distinctly different abilities affecting their own play as well as the experience of their co-op partner."

The Thing and Escape from New York director John Carpenter has been brought onboard to provide "his expertise in crafting the in-game cinematics" while 30 Days of Night writer Steve Niles has co-written the script with Day 1.

"After working closely with Monolith, Day 1 is honored to bring the next iteration of the F.E.A.R. franchise to gamers with key elements of the past games yet providing fresh combat and horror experiences in F.E.A.R. 3," said Day 1 founder Denny Thorley in the announcement. "Players can look forward to new features such as divergent co-op, an evolved cover system, and more scares in F.E.A.R. 3."

F.E.A.R. 3--thankfully not F.3.A.R.--is due out on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall.
