Hi All am new to battlefield using both 2142 and Battlefield and am finding it an impossibility to utilise aircraft in both these games, I simply crash within seconds of take off. So I would appreciate any hints tips or keyboard set ups to help me with this.

hmm i think i dont have any tips but they flying with jets or planes in bf2 is hard imo xD so dont worry but flying a chopper there i simple enough for everyone...
and in bf2142 flying a gunship is very easy (much easier than flying anything in bf2) and then the transporter -.- yes its the easiest to fly with =) sorry but i dont have any tips but if you cant fly a jet/plane then dont do that xD there are always others who do that and help your team lol

Talk to the Timeless pilots, see how they fly, it's namely skalper and ashoof who fly us around so talk to them
yep skalper and ashoof will give you tips, they are the pilots of timeless airways.

no flying tip lol =)
if youre pilot then always fly fast and you need some good gunners then its not a transporter its a transporter of doom or dont know lol
you can get many points for that and your gunners too =)
this is not a tip HOW to fly but how to fly and make some points =P

Ok hers the main tips.
use a joystick
Configure it in controls
Find an empty server. Titan or one of the conquest servers that are empty
Don't worry about the the game will start after 3,000,000 people will join message. Its the ideal time to practise.
Press F9 as soon as you get in it removes the airships console. Make sure your throttle control is set to zero for transports or just above sero for gunships.
Then just go for it.
Best pilots NEVER use maximum speed except for evasion.
Transports. To land best raise the nose and lower speed gradually.
The rest is practise.

They also give you a chance to make fun use of the double titan bug if it's there :p
this is not a tip too but funny lol just use the gunship and then fly straight into heaven till you cant control your gunship anylonger lol then just get off and if you have a partner you could do some funny things be creative =D
Best place to learn is fine an empty server and just practise.
I learned to pilot the gunship pretty easily since I did use my mouse on flight simulator, the transport takes some getting used to but compare to BF2's jet fighters it's a doddle.
Yep keep practicing in an empty server.... best of luck
