I´ve got a RAID issue again.......!!

But what is this "initializing"?? it says so in the overview on system startup.. The last two times, it said "Failed". And the computer still was running pretty well, but now the computer is having weird lag all the time. Even as I am writing this.

Well this ofcourse means I have to travel to the PC store again.. This time, I´ll get a new hdd.
First time, they just did the RAID thing again, next time they did a motherboard check and changed the RAID from (0) to (1) ... So now I think I am entitled to get a new hdd... tired of this **** happening again and again.

Anyways.. that´s not what this is about, what is or could be the issue when it says "initializing". Initializing as in starting or beginning yes, but do you think that my RAID is just initializing all the time and therefore the computer can´t run properly...

So far I´ve just had this issue for 2 hours.

My RAID was doing exactly the same thing.

Your RAID has a problem which is why the status says Failed at startup (duh!). Because you're using RAID1, your PC can still run Windows from a drive that doesn't have a problem (or so I assume). The startup status and RAID software should display which drive is faulty. Once Windows is running, the RAID software will initialize the RAID which varifies the drives and checks for any problems it can fix. This can take a very long time to finish and is probably taking up a bit of system resources to do it, which is why your PC is lagging. I would suggest not using your PC for anything like gaming while the RAID is initializing. The Intel RAID software should display the progress of the initialization.

My problem turned out to be the RAID drivers and software I was using. I was using the latest Intel Matrix Storage drivers/software, but Intel have released new RAID drivers/software now. I can't remember the full name but it is something like Intel Rapid Storage, and it is kind of hidden on the Intel website. If I search for my motherboard, it would list the old IMS stuff, but if I search for the chipset that my motherboard uses it lists the new IRS stuff. I didn't think that new drivers would stop the same hard drive from constantly degrading and making my RAID fail, but it did!

lol as you wrote... I defragmented my SSD (which has the OS) and is completely seperated from the RAID. Restarted and boom the RAID had fixed itself.

Thanks for the info Roz, I was just about to delete the tread and stop wondering about it... But now there is an ANSWER!! :D

I´ll leave the tread be for future referrences :)

If your RAID does the same thing again, it might be worth downloading Intel's new RAID control drivers/software. It would mean setting up the RAID from scratch, but hopefully it would get rid of the problem.
