the new page is up for now.
i know its still a lot to do.
still some bugs and gfx probs in it

so stay cool :punish:

Plz test everything and let me know (post in this thread) when ya get any probs

Contructive critizism: Don´t know if there is a compatibility fix for this, I know that IE 8 has a built in resolution compatibility for websites.

But when looking at the website with 1920x1080 res. The big Timeless Logo in the top is placed asymetrically to the left.. When running Chrome, it looks pretty weird. IE 8 manages to make it look pretty good though.

Not that it´s the big issue.. Just thought you should know.

FYI: Most websites have difficulty with 1920x1080 resolution as most of you probably know :)

if ya go into a thread and copy the link of the thread... the link also contains the title of the thread...
so if we write something important in the advanced member area or the admins section and we post
the link the shoutbox, the title is visible for others...
example:

Ok I can´t find any Arcade/Game Section...

I have had other problems with this 4.0 version, because I 95% of the time use Chrome Browser, but I do that because it loads 3 times as fast as IE8..

But where exactly is the game section?

EDIT: And yes I get the double post message everytime.. well except for once it actually worked and I was stunned (There! I didn´t exaggerate and told the truth) :)

I actually miss this too.. sometimes I´ve replied to some post, but didn´t pay attention on where in the forum it was placed, so often takes me a forever to find it again. Especially when people post a tread in a Forum Topic that has nothing to do with the headline of the tread.

even so, I really like "What´s new?" section and think we should keep it.. But the old system was very nice too!

i was thinking of some way non registered guests could interact with us.
i often find myself visiting a clan/gaming website after i encounter a problem on their server (hacks, glitching...) but there is no way of communicating without registering and that's too much hassle for the odd report, so i just leave.
having some kind of guestbook, open to everyone, it might become a moderating nightmare though :). or else an idea/report box, guests could post messages which would go straight to an admin or moderator area in the forum.
map polls advertised ingame (mentioned by kharak in another post) and such could be opened to guests to get more votes and a better picture.

May have been said but why not have a guest area on the fourm page/tab that they can access at least it would be in one area and not scroling around the shout box, then we just deleat the spam

being used for advertising spam, porn spam, porn advertising spam...
and of course all the noobs who just use it to insult others

What I say we need is some form of report system that goes directly to (and only to) admins. If admins are the only ones that can read it then it wouldn't be that prone to spam and advertisements and such. :)

Agreed. It would be nice for Forum Mods to have the ability to block someone for x minutes. I know this is probably tricky to implement, so Kharak's generalised disabling of whites posting option would be beneficial.

It´s not that the Mods cant stop/ban one spam bot, I´m just thinking more if we get "attacked" by a really bad spam bot, one that posts on multible accounts. That could be quite time costly if we were to ban/mute each of them.

Though I have another idea, a preemptive one. If we could somehow get an additional chatbox (or add to ours, but don´t think that will be easy), one who requires that you write a captcha in order to be able to post. That would secure us from spambots.

something else, can you remember when we had the latest ingame screens posted by members and updated on the website above the shoutbox on the homepage? it was a nice feature with peeps rating pictures and commenting them. the only issue is that it might clog up the homepage even more, to be honest it looks quite messy right now with the neverending scrolling down the page.

one last little thing, i noticed timelessgaming doesn't have a logo for its steam group. pssst storm :)

I like the idea, but as you said.. We have waay too much info on our frontpage.

I talked to a guy on teamspeak who just joined us 2 days ago, he also mentioned how much info there was on the website. He said he had troubles finding the TS button...

I think we should consider removing stuff from the frontpage and move it to other sections.

Sure I can guess we all like it with all the handy stuff on the frontpage, because we are used to it.. But for newcomers I guess it can be quite frightening.

Since he told me this, I'd had another look on our frontpage and I noticed that we have too many "tools" on the frontpage.

The articles should be in another color, as to state that they don't belong to "Welcome to Timeless message".

The Cloud, it looks nice, but I say remove it.

Forum Last Posts, remove it and possibly replace it with niii's idea on latest screenshots.

The Menu to the left under the shoutbox, move it under the Teamspeak, Vent and Xfire shorcuts.

Server monitor, as much as I like it.. I think it should be moved somewhere else.

Simple is good! People are getting blasted with information when they join..

other than that, we do have an awesome frontpage, but for newcomers... Just not the heartwarming welcome you'd expect :)

Comments, ideas, critique and what not is more than welcome.

I agree with the above. The frontpage is too cluttered, it feels like a desktop that has a billion shortcuts and all the sidebar widgets running :D

What I suggest:
Remove the Globe, Cloud, Value and "Timeless Firefox" These in my opinion are a waste of space...

Move the Server Status' (The Gametracker ones) to a New page, Possibly called " Server Status' ".

I think that this will drastically improve the feel of the front page :)

I always stay in homepage, so i can see chatbox-last post-serverstatus-livescoreboard-TS. I think thats the more usfull for members.
For visitors it can be something like popup window based on mouse move, but i am not expert :dunno:
I love the idea about screenshots, that we can comment :good1:

Whilst a good idea, I feel that having in one place can be somewhat overwhelming... The screenshot idea is definitely a good'un :)

I'm just speaking my mind, I'm not trying to talk you down Timos. I just feel that if the website was a little more 'divided up' and organised, it would be alot more friendly to use and easier. Also on a plus note the front page might even load a bit quicker :)

A Poll would be useful, on whether to move the Server Status' to a new page or not. Keep the Teamspeak and the Ventrillo on the front page maybe, depends how it will look at the end.

something else, can you remember when we had the latest ingame screens posted by members and updated on the website above the shoutbox on the homepage? it was a nice feature with peeps rating pictures and commenting them.all members can create there own album and all can coment them, also they can upload pics as an attachment in every thread. what ya need more? ya mean something like the last video?

I talked to a guy on teamspeak who just joined us 2 days ago, he also mentioned how much info there was on the website. He said he had troubles finding the TS button...i think ya dont need much skill for our website to handle it, they will get used to it very fast ;)

The articles should be in another color, as to state that they don't belong to "Welcome to Timeless message".not working, the welcome message is also an article.

the front page should be a place where i can see quick all infos i need without pressing any button.

i deleted already some widgets, about the clob and cloud we can talk about ;)

the only issue with this is that an image is scalable so will get cut off if the user makes the window smaller

I have an idea. The articles below the Welcome article, what if we remove them, and replace them with a single box called Headlines, which will just have the title.

For example
Timeless 07 goes first in the world
Timeless 09/10 - Joke Servers
Donation reports 2011/03
NEW Timeless Server
Donation Report

Each with a link to the related article. That would significantly reduce the clutter.
We could even have this a scrolling marquee on top, then it would easily get attention, and we can use it in case we want to get a message across to our members.

Another suggestion I have is regarding the Forum Last Post box. Don't we already see the latest posts next to the chatbox? So if my assumption that they both show the same information is correct, I think the Last Post box is redundant, and we could do away with it.

members can coment and rate as before but i doubt many use it because the pics posted in the albums are buried into the forum. something like the last video (i was going to post that volkswagen ad :D) bringing the screens back to the surface might push people to upload more ingame screens, it makes for a more interactive website and i remember it being a popular feature back in the 2142 days.

let's swap screens face ;)

i like this welcome article version you posted bert.
regarding the articles, the different use of colours and abundance of the red and smilies are distracting me. the simpler the better in my opinion, but that's maybe just me.

rad's ideas about the headline articles and last posts box are pretty good. also unlike the shoutbox posts, the last post box lets everyone see, including guests, admin title posts they can't access. ventrilo could go, i never see anyone on it.

Instead put something like latest screenshots where 'Latest Posts' are.

The menu for livescoreboard, servers and what not could also be moved further down under the TS. Its a lot of "noise letters" in the eyes of newcomers together with the 'latest posts'.

Simple is good :)

Bert is right. Someone who is new to the sight won't have interest in quite a few things on the home page.

Perhaps we should move the Servers and Articles to their own pages. Add tabs for both on top. And if use the Headlines idea that I suggested earlier, we can still convey the same information on the homepage with much less clutter.

when i compare our with other websites, our is still structured and we not runing much addons.
i think, after 2 days also the biggest complete nooblet can deal with our website.

fyi, the website isnt a simple html site, its an system, a lot of things runs
automaticly and we couldnt change. when we create an new article it also create autom.
an thread in the forum.
what we can do, is reduce the number of the articles from 7 to 4
the idea of the front page and article is, to give our memebers the newest important infos.
also shows the site as active, i would wish, that more peeps writing some intersting articles
(shows at moderators), about new game, bf updates,... but looks like they spend there
time to disturb me :rofl: btw all members can write news in the forum which we can
promote to an article.

we runing this addon since 1.2011 and i see only 18 videos in it, we still need it?
