The latest games usually come with the required latest direct x package.

Once installing the latest drivers for your GFX and other hardware.....

If you're having difficulties with games etc, try the latest DX9

(Released bi-monthly from October 2004 to August 2007, and quarterly thereafter)

Not sure why you need Direct X, what is it etc?
