View Full Version : Ordered me a new PC
So, as some of you know, I've been needing a new PC for quite some time, this piece of junk is starting to struggle with 2142 :(
So with the new wave of games due to come out, i thought i better pull my finger out, and get me that new one that ive always wanted.
So after a week or 2 of searching, and the very valuable advice of some timeless and b2b members its done, and should be here by friday :)
I know some of you out there are just waiting for this bit, the specs (simplified):
Mid Tower Case with 'maximum' cooling fans
700W PSU
ASUS Crossfire enabled something or other mainboard
AMD Phenom II 620 Quad (2.6 Ghz)
4 GB Ram (hornet assures me its high quaity :p)
1GB HD4870 GFX card
500GB hard disk
Win7 Home Premium 64 bit
I'd like to thank everyone that helped me out on this one, I'm a complete noob and couldnt have done it without you guys,
In particular, Hornet, Fehn, Jiddo, SUAF, choaz and the timeless cow (plissken)
i think itll suit you great m8

700W PSU
Try to look for Corsair or Seasonic power suply's.
They are very quiet with best performance.
ASUS Crossfire enabled something or other mainboard
My fav is gigabyte, have both + DFi.
AMD Phenom II 620 Quad (2.6 Ghz)
Today is well known, Intel processors are better than AMD's, can provide you with
more FPS than AMD's and they have great overclock capabilities.
4 GB Ram (hornet assures me its high quaity )
If you find Crucial Ballistix in your store, dont void them :)
I have mine 667 mhz overclocked @ 1100 V2.3
1GB HD4870 GFX card
GTX 260 ? Its Nvidia, have better drivers
500GB hard disk
For silence, buy seagate for overall WD :)
I would think that rig is bang for the buck rather than best crap but also less performance per €
hmm isnt that a dragon platform you ordered dax?

I was advised on an intel chip, but i had to consider my budget in all of this.
I was working to a budget and i was determined to stick to it, and managed to get the total cost of the Rig to about £600, including assembly, OS, testing, shipping, and what seems to be remarkable customer service, just received a phone call to let me know that my order had been received, and that everything was compatible etc :p
It is a corsair powersupply, as horny pretty much told me not to buy the one i was going for :)
Yeh well but im still waiting for AMD to put on the kickass-west and spay some intel-balls, im a fan of AMD even though im on an I7 atm, but hey. They hadnt proven themselfes when i needed a new rig
