So, im thinking to buy external hard drive. I have now readed tons of reviews about them and i cannot decide what to buy.
Here is my choises at the moment:
Buffalo: http://www.buffalo-technology.com/products/external-drives/drivestation/hd-ceu2-drivestation-turbousb/
Notes: Lots of discussions that driver just stops working
WD http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=563
Notes: Lots of discussions about that power supply will broke soon
Does anyone here have external drive ? Or have any recomendations what to buy :)
just buy a caddy, and put you're own hard drive in it, its much much cheaper

WD http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=563

i have 2 of these external HDDs, a 640 GB and a 1000 GB.
they are fast and the power supply pack isnt big, they dont need very much power.
under full load, they arent noisy!!!
I can advise you only WD!!!
I have a 1TB WD one, nice and quiet as speedy said, and reasonalbly fast to access, useful for a backup of your files imo, and they also keep my entire film and tv show library :)

Depends on what you want to use it for. If you simply want to use it as a backup and that's it, then go cheap and cheerful. Buy the largest capacity disk you can for the money. that would be the 1.5tb drives. There are 2Tb out at the moment, but the price/gb isn't worth it.
If you want to run games and use it as an actual drive....then that's a different kettle of fish. If you can do it, go internal really, the bus transfer rate is miles better with EIDE/PCI than USB2.0
not a bad article on Tom's I read a few months ago.

external !!!! just fill the inside ov ur pc with 1.5tb drives then get another 6 or 10 on usb ? lol job done but i might be cheapr buying the caddy and drive seperate
i have 3 external at the moment but all up to 500gb
I do recommend putting a spinpoint 1gb in a caddie of your choice.
I built a custom library a few years back, i never updated the drives in it.
It is a simple PC case with a psu and 6 250gb IDE drives in it, all drives have a blue LED linked to front of case and
4 are in quick release temp controlled caddies with digital LCD's.
All have an IDE to USB2 adapter and all 6 drives are plugged into 2 USB hubs inside the case
with 2x USB 2 leads comin out the back.
Basically a huge external caddie lolz, when i built it, 250GB was the largest drive out there.
I also recommend a good 2.5" drive (7200rpm) in a http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16817714014
As this powers via a USB port also, its very convienient and compact.
I also would say: own drive + caddy
Now the caddy show-off:
If needed for backup or speed:

Has Raidfunctions included, i have one of those with two 1TB Raid 1 for mi backup
There are more, check them out, if also seen a version for 2,5'' HDD and if they have ESATA even nicer, way faster than crappy USB2 ;)

Did not thought that caddy thing before. Also just talked with my friend and he has one spare caddy which i could get cheap, it has usb 2.0 and sata connection :) + some cheap hard drive there.
It would just be for storage, no backups or any thing else. I have space for those already. And i first looked the cheap prices on external hard drives, but caddy + driver doesnt cost much more.
Thank you guys :V:
If time to backup is no issue then get a drive as big as u can afford m8y
then get a decent caddy u like the look of, stick it in, format and away u go ;)
3.5" sata or IDE drives will require a power supply, while you can get some nice 2.5" HDD caddy with
e-sata and/or 2 or even 1 usb plug with no power supply pack needed :)
Take a 2,5'' caddy with eSATA and put a SSD in = The :hornet: Solution

Here is the link to caddy which i will get from my friend
Chieftec, S-version
http://www.chieftec.com/blackbox-b.html
It looks functional to my use.
My advice, choose one with looong warranty! I had one 500gb filled as backup, pics and.. well EVERYTHING, that broke just after the two years warranty :(
Even if they don't fix all that you've backed up, you get a new drive at least.
Now I only go for the ones with five years. Sad to see all just gone.
Oh, it was a physical wrong with it, just collapsed, and it never took a hit or was moved.... Ill tell you the brand if I find it, Seagate or WD, cant remember..
*edit - seagate barracuda *
