Can we ask all Timeless Crew members and regulars a favour.
If possible before you go off to work in the morning or whilst doing chores.....
Can you start BF2142 and go sit in one of our empty servers. Having a few people (apparently) waiting for the game to start encourages others to join the server as well.
It won't count in your stats as playing time or a win or loss and you will be kicked after the game starts as a time out.

Wasn't kick start a program with guys on trials bikes doing cool tricks and like hoping onto logs and stuff?

Yep, sure, I'm happy to do that some of the time, I'll only do that on days I come home for lunch as I don't want to burn money/computer out

Actually its a proven fact that starting and turning off computers is more harmful than leaving them on contiously!
no dont think so... the hardware will suffer then =) especially the vents?? lol dont know in english, the things to make the cpu cold or put the warm air out of you comp... oh noes xD my english =)

The surge of power when the system is switched on placed umpteen more wear and tear on things like hard drives/ dvd drives etc than just sitting about with hardly any useage.
Yes there is the minimal power use. probably less than a lightbulb if you turn the monitor off. After all the motherboard is very low voltage.
yes that could be true cat but as i said the longer your comp is on the faster your hardware gets destroyed (can i say this in english?) so i think its not worth being online 24h/day i think 23h are enough lol
no just dont do that ...

Did you know your pc still uses roughly the same amount of power turned off than when in hibernate?
A control voltage circa 2.3 watts is maintained on most systems as a wake up networking system. When I turn my pc off a little green light still glows inside it.
My pc uses 400-500 watts while gaming, and around 250-300 idle, right now its using 293 watts. These figures include a 24" TFT and a few other low wattage devices.
I use a gadget which tells me what the total wattage i'm using but you could use a component calculator like this one...

Its useful for working out what PSU you may need for your system.
You will use a lot more power even while idle in the BF2142 menu than if you were idle at your OS desktop.
Why don't you guys sit in a Timeless server which is empty... go have your dinner or bath and come back to a full server.... it all helps ;)

Yup your right there heating up and cooling down causes more stress on the components than leaving them running 24/7 :)
i dont remeber i have ever turn of any pc i bought :)

Who cares if gets the game off so what lol now I'm on most days if I do see an empty server I will sit on it for half an hour and that should be time enough lol;)

we really still need them kickstarts, to fill up ye olde servers, especially titan all maps, city or NS server...
so whenever someone has got the means to put his soldier into the filling up server, the others would surely be thankful

if your worried about it being on all day set up a power plan that shuts it down after so long maybe 30 mins or 1 hour just a thought

a lot dont seem to know, that when you are kind enough to help getting a server started, you should never ever leave as soon as its just gotten started as it will just end again
has unfortunately happened a few times today over a period of like 2 hours until it got stable
so pse whenever u leave the toggeli ;) / soldier in , dont leave and if you be kicked just pse put him back in
you get the idea

I left the server yesterday, cause i had to do a lot in the reallife for my apprenticeship.

yeah m8, the server is online, i played there on sunday with Olorian and Gzap
gamp..gib...gerb server was chanched on wake...city is still on
NS and Ceb... were switched to Titan and Wake. City is still going.
We want to keep one pure CQ map rotation server going.

Kick starting or Idling was and still is common practice with other gaming communitys I have been involved with, Members would idle on a server so that it would start quicker and as already stated a server that has a few people on it would attract more people to it, the other gaming community I am involved with had to shut down its 2142 server as very few of the members were using it, and their rotation map BF2 server is going to shut down soon as no one bothers to idle on it, they will be left with one server for static map BF2 and one server for L4d2............:sick:
So kick starting - Idling is the least the community members can do for their community, if no body helps to start servers then possibly one day there wont be servers dedicated to BF2142..............:cry:
