I thought we could make comparisons of our PC's.
I'm just about to upgrade my PC a little and wanted to see the differences.
Using 3D Mark 2005 and 3D Mark 2006 and SuperPI 1.5.
If you got other benchmarking tools you use please leave a link thanks...
I benchmarked my current PC.... I've not overclocked anything below...
CPU= AMD 4600x2
RAM= 2GB DDR1 400mhz
GFX= 2x ATI x1900xtx's Crossfire.
HDD= SATA WD Raptor 73GB 10k
By far not the best PC lolz....
Here are my results... SuperPI 1meg test was 37+secs using V1.1, 1.4 and latest 1.5.

everything is not clocked as it doesnt like it when i play with the settings ....
soon to be adding the new gear very soon .. will also be upgrading to vista ultimate ..at same time save all the hassles

TK-501 ..very similar setup to me m8.
I'm using the same Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe Mobo too. This board is good for overclocking but the AMD 64 4600/4800 chips are pants to overclock.
Quick update....
I got my new gear in the last hour.... I've mounted CPU, RAM and Cooler on mobo...
will prob get started tonight or tomoz... 8)

I had problems with the mobo i had... it simply would not see any of my IDE drives... I've got 2 DVD writers which are IDE, although it is possible to install windows in other ways i could not do this via a ROM drive. RTM on that one... new mobo coming today. I still managed to boot to vista, installing a few drivers and around 6 restarts etc and the quad core is running sweet, i ran the superPI 1 meg test and got 32 seconds in Vista, bear in mind this cpu runs at same speed as my old cpu at 2.4ghz. Plus the superpi was run in XP on the 4600 cpu to get 37 secs..... more to come but it looks like the Q6600 is gonna be a decent chip. ;)
Here is the Vista 'windows experience index' results compared... I've not updated any drivers at all here.

il re do mine after i install those new toys ..and see what i get .. tbh dont really care as long as it plays stranglehold and crysis ..... i know a few testers have played crysis on even lower spec machines in good quality less than the min reqs ..so its not all to bad for dx9 cards

Im not going dx10 for 6 months at least so thats good for me.
my x1850xt is pants ..it does ok but , i was soo wanting to play stranglehold ..but the games min reqs are insane ... 2gig min x1600 ati or 7800 nvida .. etc check the game specs some where i had it loaded but it would play cinematics etc but when i went to play the game it just kept bugging .. like how on BF when u change graphic settings etc or you get that "optimizing shaders" crap crysis does that every time during the game rendered by the dx10 and the whole dynamics of the game ..tho it still works seemingly fine on dx9 cards .. i just need more powerrrrrrrrrr.... so the x2900 1m card is ordered .. will order more ram from crucial as dabs are not in stock and also buy the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ AM2 3.2GHz (BLACK EDITION) so in all iv just built a new pc truthfully lol ....
and the zalman cpu fan should work nps with the new cpu when i get it if not il get another .... im currently using a jeantech 600W ARCTIC Modular JN-600-AP with 120mm PSU but will change if need be... back to the beeer :D

Heres the latest..... Before overclocking i was getting 28 seconds in SuperPI 1Meg.
I overclocked my Q6600 from 2400 to 3155mhz per core.... i need to run stability tests on this but i'm getting 1meg superPI of 16 seconds !!!
Wow i'm amazed, this Q6600 is a beast. I'm not gonna overclock it any further til i got some more figures. I got temps of 22C ! With Arctic cooler 7. Will benchmark 3D when i know i'm stable..... 8)

Seriously m8, consider the Q6600 for a few quid more... its Quad core and overclocks like a beast. I'm also using Ballistix 8500 2gig too now. Cant grumble at your choice of PSU... cool. If like me youre gonna be upgrading your pc a lot then u gotta buy a retail Vista (£300) on the other hand if youre not gonna be upgrading the pc youre gonna install it on then OEM is fine... I would personally get the retail as you will need to buy another oem if you upgrade your mobo for example.
Only prob with that is if i upgrade to intel then its new board etc ..new ram ..might aswell get one pre made by alienware etc if i did, which i might do when the new upgrades run slow thats why im upgrading the psu / cpu more ram and 2 hefty x2900 ddr4 1meg cards .. and vista ... so on your note il get the expensive vista then ..cheers

also the missus ol man has asked me to build him a new pc and gave me £1.200, So il build him a lower spec machine im gonna do for myself using 2 x1950's and ddr2 instead of ddr3 ram and the same cpu hornet linked .... meh wished it was my dosh 2/3 of that would just be the extreme cpu im after :-(
1200 will get him somethin nice m8.... DDR3 of course would be nice but wow you gotta pay for it atm. I'm a bit new at overclocking as i could not afford it b4 (and still cant lolz)
but when i'm done and gotta stable pc, i'll post some numbers. Hopefully it'll help a few peeps make their mind up what they want for xmas. So far tho, i am not disappointed with the CD2's esp the Q6600 G0. 8)

I've down clocked my CPU to 3.06ghz and ran prime95 for 8 hours and no probs... 61degrees was highest it went and down to 48 in 2 seconds after closing prime95. At this speed i'm getting just under 16 seconds in superPI. I will probably overclock a little more, maybe to 3.4ghz but i'm very happy with a quad core runnin 3ghz TBH. Will post some numbers for the Q6600/G0 at 3ghz for 3D2005 and 2006 when i get a chance. Cooool 8)

I was thinking of buying the Q6600 but didn't end up in the end don't have any regrets atm, i've just purchased a new CPU cooler I'm idling at 11oC and getting around 20oC after a few hours on BF with the Zalman 9700 & Arctic Silver 5.. When the right time comes I'll be overclocking mine too. :)
Ok i said other day that i uninstalled my drivers and card etc but psu was dead ..well i am using an old 600w standard psu ftm and my old score was

but all ive done is reinstall the gfx card nothing else bar make sure the cpu controller is set to mid way for the zalman (like it was before as i moved the settings while changing bits) and iv less hdd space and i have beat my old score by a alot more which is weird.....
new score is 4588... didnt get the sm marks or cpu as clicked off of it as i just woke up :rolleyes:
This with the x2900? If you wanna take a screenshot of the 3Dmark window...
make sure its the active window then hold 'ALT' and tap 'PRT SCRN' then open paint and then select paste. Will save you typing it all out m8. ;)
Ok i got new figures for my little upgrade.
Using the same GFX (2x x1900xtx) and the same drivers in XP.
Ram 2gb ballistix 8500
CPU Q6600 G0 @ 3.06ghz
SuperPi is around 16 seconds... Up from 37 seconds !
And screens below of...
3D MARK 2005.... from 12445 to 16969 !!
3D MARK 2006.... from 7862 to 10305 !!
I broke 10k with 3d 2006. Really pleasing results. 8)
I hope these figures may inspire or help someone decide on an upgrade ETC.
A very good speed increase for myself, there is a lot better amongst us...

no the ol x1850 = just about 5k from 1 card

The main down side to having these cards is , you need extreme power to run em as it uses 6 pin pcie power connector but also a new 8pin pcie connector so just aswell my psu did die as id have to get a new one anyways..
So before the end of the year il be running 2 of these crossfired .but next year il be using them in my new system im building , and sticking the ol x1850xt back into this system and use this system as downloader/burner/ app pc and new 1 as a full on power gamin pc

I'd like DX10.1 dual gfx setup either the nvidia's 9800's or ATI's R670/ R680's but by the look of rumour, Nvidia will beat ATI's next gen cards...

so basically it doubled the score using 1 card on an old system
so i wont really benefit until i get my system built asap ...also had some drama with the g15 keyboard ..both enter buttons didnt work ..so i had to dismantle it then rebuild it to get em to work
will give a run on 3dmark 05

Have you not got the full progs? There is usually a pop up window with the results displayed at the end of the tests... these are what i have posted above... ;)

well i did but my ram has died then to top it off got hit by 2 viruses ..ffs so ...im pis**d off atm ...using laptop again ...until company checks out the ram before they send replacement as its on lifetime warranty

Those figures look promising.. You'll have an even better machine when you got the 2nd 2900....
I'm hopin to buy 2 gfx cards next year. If i were to buy this year it would have to be the 2900's as i got a crossfire mobo atm but i'd prefer 2x 8800's Ultra's and it does look like Nvidia have got a couple of great cards due out very soon this year and early next year, so it does look like another new mobo and SLI for me tho...
do i have to buy this benchmark tool? i got another one but its just testing the cpu =)

Ok hear i go i am not happy with this score as i have already coocked my corair dominators and i am running on some crap.com memory atm
now this is 100 % stable setting that i use to play game .com
Nice Ash... Looks like you'll easily clear 25k in 3d2k5...
At 3.7ghz what do you get in SuperPI /1Meg ?

Well the Benchmark of a single 9800GX2 with 174.53 drivers on Vista 32
Intel Q6600 at 3.1ghz per core. (up from 2.4ghz per core)
I got a score of 15731 in 3DMark2006 a very healthy 7869 extra on top of my
Old 1900xtx crossfire setup. Thats DOUBLE !! ..7862 was my old score.
I gotta say this is an amazing card and judging from my increase of my score
in 3dmark06, it looks like i needed the upgrade.
Strangely.. it looks like its beating the twin 8800GTX benchmarks... ???
Its obviously not gonna beat 2x 8800 Ultra's but it looks like the king
of the single card gfx world right now, albeit a dual GPU card. ;)
I have run this program following a reboot of vista and no tweaking at all.
Default settings in 3dmark06. Default GFX settings in Nvidia control panel.
No services etc stopped, so this score could well be higher.
I bought the BFG card from our buddies at Overclockers...

I checked yesterday and big program with only speed about 25 kb/sec to download it would take 6 Hours to download.
