hey guys. samsung finally gave me my money back for my 22" monitor that exploded and half-melted, dont ask me how/why but it did!
my question is what size/res do you guys recommend?
22"-1680x1050 ---- http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?SAM-SM2233
or
22"-1920x1080 ---- http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?LG-W2261V
or
24"-1920x1080 ---- http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?LG-W2442PA
or
24"-1920x1200 ---- http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?SAM-T240
my gpu is an evga 285 ssc with 1gb mem, o/c to 752mhz core
and cpu q6600 o/c to 3.4 ghz
and i have 4gb crucial ballistix tracers if that makes any difference.
if you guys can recommend any other monitors around the 250 euro area, i would also appreciate that.
thanks for any advice :)
edit: typo

thanks for th eadvice, i do seem to like the 240, samsung always seem to be good to me as a customer and they even gave me 50 euro free in itunes as an apology for the old monitor, i think it was mainly as it exploded but free stuff is free stuff :)

take this one it always served me well
sorry for being a complete noob on these thingsm isnt a monitor just a monitor? does it really make a difference which one you buy, as long as it is big anough to see and reasonably nice looking, i'd say go for the cheap one, but thats just me.

thanks firest@arter, i think i will just go for the 22" samsung. and Dax, when buying a monitor you should at least consider resolution, as if the resolution is too high for your graphics card performance will be poor

Just to add some "intel", the best 22" for gamers is still the LG L227WT(P), Samsung always had the prob that you canīt be sure which panel you get ...
I have 2 22" LG here, used one to game till early may when i moved to a 24" Asus VW246H with a great panel.

i personally would get a 19 " xD its much easier to look for ppl in fps as the screen is smaller xD

i have a 20 in Prestigio (tv) but it can be used as a monitor
works really well, but its a bit too big for me
it was 225 euro (good bit of money)
btw if you were wondering what it looked like sexy..

I went with a Samsung 22" SyncMaster. Really like it although sometimes i think it's too big! I have the resolution at 1680x1050. But 2142 doesn't go that high!

if you add that one:
+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050
to the filepath, than you can play with a bigger resolution

nah - not needed:
+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +widescreen 1
and you get all possible resolutions ingame incl. the widescreen ones :good2:

Thanks guys..: Actually think I read that code on here someplace, but forgot to add it! Will try it tonight!! .. Now if only someone could help with my wireless router! :haha3:

there's also a certain benefit with widescreen mode in games where you can get a higher horizontal view with the loss of a little height.
Having that said, I got a Samsung syncmaster 953 bw
using >
x:\Games\Bf2142\BF2142.exe +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900
well i personally use a dell 24" its awsome but it depends on ur budget .
wouldnt mind a 30" tough lol
kurim i'd agree there mate deff benifits to wide screen as i'v just found out managed to lay my hands on a syncmaster 400 ( ex works ) wow what a differance ).

whoops, br4ind4m4ge, looks like a typo, its actually at 3.4 sorry
I haven't read the entire thread yet, but have you looked at Nvidia 3D Vision? Samsung do a range of new monitors that are compatible (120Hz) and with the use of some special battery powered Nvidia glasses, it makes your games look like virtual reality. It works with the Nvidia GeForce 8800 and up so your card will be compatible.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_Main.html
I saw this at the PAX09 games convention and it is amazing to use. It's fully compatible with about 300 games (listed on the site) but it tries to improve any 3D games you play. I really want to get it, but I'm waiting until they make some bigger monitors that support it. I currently use a Dell 30" and it is too awesome to give up. I don't think I could ever go down from this size to play games with! My monitor runs at 2560x1600 :D

well thanks for the recommendation roz, but i bought an LG 24" flatron W2452tx. i really like it and anyway i thought i'd wait for the 3d vision to mature a bit and come down in price aswell :D
