Ive just read that nvidia's 295 in PC Format bench marked better and boasts slightly less in memory but again comes down to drivers, nvida have always been a bit better in drivers and these big boys are meant for screen's that are 26 inches or better other wise you may as well buy a budget card lol. On the whole amd are trying to resolve there driver's and make them better not to mention 7 and boards to match these big boys also need big power supplies no matter witch one you buy!

Also checkout x-bit labs

I allready have a 4870 but i dont think that the 4890 will be a good choice...i red somewere that it's a overclocked 4870...maybe buy, if you want the top, a gtx295...but it's really more expensive!! :bye:

really? i've allways thought nvidias drivers been sucking rather hard, allways caused different problems now and then.
And for ATI? Well, havent had a single problem yet, so I dont regret my switch =)

hmm. Ive just ordered a 4870 1GB card. Its coming tomorrow. I thought about a 9800GTX but Overlockers had the 4870 for a £170 this week - bargain! My current 8800GT o/c has done me proud these past 6 months but its time to upgrade.

Im keeping the card for my 'Media centre' PC that I am currently building to manage my dvds, music and tv stuff.

lol

and there isnt much diffrence between 8800 and 9800 they are basically the same card

This is why i decided on the 4870. For an extra £30 its a much better card by miles in terms of performance etc and they are easy to over clock, without demanding too much from your power supply.

Its coming tomorrow and I expect a marked improvement over my overclocked 8800GT 512 when I play Empire:Total War.
