View Full Version : Timeless Gibraltar Server Running Old PB version again even after update plus log

Basically it keep saying server running an old version 1.709 and saying:
RESTRICTION: Service Communication Failure: PnkBstrB.exe handshaking failed
and the log file for BnkBstrB states as follows:
[09.23.2007 01:27:33] PnkBstrB v1.709 (BF2142) Service Started Successfully. This service is a component of the PunkBuster Anti-Cheat system. Visit http://www.evenbalance.com for more information.
[09.23.2007 01:27:45] WARNING: Ignoring Packet from unauthenticated source
its driving me nuts the timeless servers are the only servers it happens on :(
can anyone help me with this ???

Punkbuster has had some serious issues recently. We updated all our servers with the new PB files only yesterday.

Tried everything on those pages seen them many many times :(
Basically what happens is I join the server, the it reports the server is running an old version of PunkBuster.
Then it replaces the PnkBstrA & B exe files
then it kicks me as it cannot handshake....
its actually changes the punkbuster main exe files either to suit the version it see's the server running or something else I do not know ... but the firewall I have states that the exe's have changed after joining the server
and after it does this if I try to play on any other servers its has to update again which screws up then I have to manually update PB from the evenbalance site.
It then runs fine untill I try and Join a timeless server...
I even tried uninstalling my firewall and antivirus software but same results even tho I know there setup correctly :(
all I know is I don't have this problem with any other server just annoying that its started happening recently with one of my favorite servers
it just seem to happen on the timeless servers :(

nope never use that hehe I use kerio personal firewall the free for non commercial use version
Same thing here although I've made a new thread about it until they fix this I have to not use Timeless servers :(

for me the same and yep i have only this prob on timeless servers.:-(
I had the message pop up for my last 2 games but i don't get disconnected or anything, played as normal.

You seem to be the only one now. We updated everything a few days ago and all the complaints stopped
Rereading you message it sounds like something is stopping your system talking to punkbuster. Have you firewalls loaded?

Happy days are here again :D:D yeah can play on the timeless servers again!!! WOOT!!!!
and as for the other days post I will admit my adsl was having a few updates so that could be blamed for that hehe
But was on gibraltor today and back in business :)

NOTE: as for the firewall it WAS only happening on the timeless servers so doubt it was anything to do with the firewall BUT as you say now you;ve updated its working !!! hehehe
