While the first images of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 are still waiting, Electronic Arts and DICE have announced a new variation of the Battlefield license, which will operate the latest version of the Frostbite engine: Battlefield 1943 Pacific. This umpteenth FPS on the Pacific will allow players s'étriper social Conquest mode on three of the most famous maps of Battlefield 1942: Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Wake Island. Destructible buildings, vehicles flying, rolling or floating, the worshipers of the series will not be at home but frankly can unwind in the idyllic scenery, galvanized by the soft roar of 23 other angry. Hostilities begin this summer on X360 and PS3.

Community member Staton Eichman let us know about an article posted on a French gaming website announcing Battlefield 1943 Pacific. It appears as if this has been mixed up with the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 news announced yesterday, since it lists this as console only.
We'll have to see... no harm in gettin excited tho eh? There appears to be a PC version of BF on the way...
And BF1943 looks like a strong candidate.

Battlefield 1943 is out for PC, PS3 and 360 this “summer”. Bad Company 2 will follow this “winter” for the same formats.

I'm in the closed beta of BF Heroes. Well I was. I don't play it anymore because it's just too... kiddy.
Also, reading the 1943 website it seems that it will only be available to download and only have 24 players.:S
It's starting to sound a bit... crap.

looks like old 1942 with some minor updates imo, and according to all the places ive been at then it's said to only be a celebration of 1942 using a slimmed down bc engine with just 3 maps, restricted to 2 or 3 classes with auto-healing and infinitive ammo.. with the benefit of just being cheap.
well that's just poor.
I dont mind if a game costs a lot as long as it delivers, but yea depending on how this game turns out with unlock-systems and if more maps are going to get released to it then i might consider getting it.
BC2 however is a MUST, this is just a maybe so far for me, maybe get it due to the 1942 nostalgia but I guess thats it.

Looks like BF1943 will be across all formats, PS3, XBOX360 and PC
So is there going to be a true BF3 for PC's or will the BF1943 be a stop-gap ?
First off, this is Battlefield 1943, not Battlefield 3, that would be a sequel to BF2 with the same setting, this is not, this is a celebration of 1942, a updated one using the froth bite engine but very short, think of it like the ns-booster but less players, weapons and classes.
BC2 will be out for PC which will be more of the "battlefield deal" and by my experience with Electronic Arts the bf series will continue and get milked for all that it's worth.. unless DICE breaks the contract with EA.
Although BF1943 is not named BF3.. this is the 'BF3' we've all been hoping and
waiting for... The rumours were always about a 'BF3'
Maybe there will be a BF3 one day or even a BF2143/BF2242 or something.

1) a communication/command setup as good as 2142
2) plenty of soldiers on the servers
3) enought variety of maps, game modes that keep the game interesting
4) timeless actually puts up a server....
so far can we guarentee any of these????
so I'l stick with 2142 until then....

all I can say is I ruddy well hope so, as far as im concerned its the points such as the communications and command features of 2142 that make it the best game of its type......

No way is this BF3, too stripped down.
BF3 is yet to come.
I want a battlefield with a cold war theme.With many and many diffrent vechicles and planes :(
Only time will tell for this one i guess
