View Full Version : Timeless Server running "old" PB version?
Got an weird PB error yesterday after i updated and also a few disconnects.
Is it just my PB wich isnt workin properly or is it the server? :o

We update as often as we can. I am sure the server admin will check this buit sometimes PB throws random errors to players.

I got a few random PB messages yesterday but i did not get disconnected tho?? I updated PB to V1.736 in any case. ;)

I have been getting this message for absolutely ages on timeless suez 1 and 2. It also seems to actually downgrade my punkbuster version back to 1.709 from 1.736 (which is the latest version). come on admins get it updated :D
I'm using same version 1.736 (edited my last posted typo - i put 2.7 ) in any case its the latest version of PB and i'm getting no problems. ;)

aye it lets me in fine, but i get that message everytime i join the game and as i said before, it reverts my PB back to 1.709 all the time so when i join other servers it needs to update to the newer one
Try to uninstall PB then remove the PB directory if its left behind. Restart pc and reinstall the latest PB manually. I tend to update PB regularly. I dunno if that'll help you m8. ;)

Yep i do too and pbsetup is what I use to find out what PB version i have etc. That is the only reason i know that the version running on the server is a slightly out of date version compared to most of the other servers out there. It seems the coding of PB means that newer versions for some reason are not backwards compatible with the older versions and so it redownloads 1.709 every time i play on timeless and then redownloads the latest version when i join another server (such as the CsA server).
it is not a huge problem though, just thought it could be something that is easily fixed!

play only on Timeless servers =) then you dont get any problems on other servers ^^
i think this has to be fixed as I have heard a rumour that your pb isnt being updated because some of you guys could be cheating and dont want to update the pb because the new updates will detect your cheats.. i would be very worried is such rumours were being spread about our server... just a heads up

Cool thats all we need. Thanks for the warnings. It might be me. I cheat to get the crazy number of knives in the back. No one else I know could get knifed as much as me so it must be me hacking. I have a larger back than anyone else.
Or maybe its just my huge ass
lol? i think there arent any cheaters on timeless =) or at least not too many to spoil the game

Its really strange. It seems to affect different people on different days. I joined a few servers and got that message yesterday but today i joined and no message.
Not everyone gets the message on every occasion they join it would seem.
if you join timeless after another server you will get the message but if you join timeless and your last server was timeless you will not get the messages..
I get the same message, then I get kicked!
I don't have a problem on any other server, just Timeless, and I love playing on your servers
I could have the same problem as catziggy though........a huge ass!! one that likes to be kicked ;-)

Hi folks!
My first post in this forum so here we go. :)
I got the same problem.
I installed the game new and now PB keeps kicking me.
Had this message for ages but it only showed up once as I entered the game and was away.
If it´s possible to fix it from your side I would be greatful.
I love the timeless servers and so I´m a little desperate.
Well we´ll see how it goes.

what was the server you played on last yesterday?
it was a clanmod server but there i didnt get any pb warnings but if you mean where i played 7 hours ago (my post) then i played on timeless suez 1 i were in your squad =)

Ouch! PB is certainly giving us something to talk about as long as it does not effect the game I for one am happy its when these "NOOBS" take advantage of it in some way, its like you have a door locked it only keeps out honest people lol lol!
ehm the punkbuster thing, theres a certain version on each server (often latest version) but what happens with players with an older version? perhaps the server version "downdates" to the oldest version of the players because i know not everyone has the latest version of pb and perhaps that causes the warning to others because their version is newer than the servers

yes this is what we have been saying. the server is apparently running an older version of pb and it downgrades it each time to whatever the server is running
lolz.... but this PB issue does not seem to be causing any problems to game play....
or is it just me? i get the error now and then but i play as normal... ;)

im not really educated on this sort of stuff but could having everyone downloading the older version off the server be a cause of lag?
