View Full Version : Game Freezing on loading screen, what appears to be lag and regular disconnections

HELP!!
Okay... problem 1, the game is occasionally freezing on Loading screens although the sound does continue and the walker keeps walking, it also sometimes freezes in game but not as often.
Problem 2, this evening on the NS+CQ server the game started to 'lag' when I was a ocuple of minutes in, I'm pretty sure it wasn't lag as the ping stayed low, it also is unlikely to be anything to do with Graphics as I turned the graphics down to minimum earlier. The only way to get out of it was to forcibly turn off the computer and reload.
Problem 3, over the last few days on every game without fail, when I first join the server I get disconnected at approximately 2 minutes in, and it happens at basically the same time everytime, it then however plays fine for the duration of the time I play on the server when I've reconnected, though this evening problem 2 occured when I reconnected.
Are you using all up to date drivers for sound, gfx, chipset and network? Also DX9 and other hardware drivers for good measure. And when was the last time you fresh installed your operating system? Have you ran a checking tool like memtest on your ram? And maybe also a stability tool like prime 95? Are all these problems strictly associated with bf2142 or do you have some other problems during other programs and possibly browsing the net ?

The disconnections might be punkbuster. Go to evenbalance.com and manually update you pd files. Just follow the instructions there.

Hornet: Yep I recently updated all my drivers so I don't think it's that, and no, I haven't been getting any issues like that with other games, when I'm on the internet itoccasionaly loses signal but not very often and it's never actually lost the link on BF2142 as all the lights are still blinking on the adapter. I'll try the memtest and stability tool though.

every time i start bf2142 im able to load ONE map and then when it wants to load a map for a second time its freezing =(

I had the same problem, load the first one fine, then it got stuck when we changed map.
This has worked for me though so its worth a go.

No problem, its still working for me too.
Strange how the game suddenly stops working all on its own though.

I just looked the thread title. Should EA and DICE not put that on the back of the Game case when they wrote all the blurb about the game? LOL

Happend to me a few times tonight, i gave up in the end..
I had the same problem, load the first one fine, then it got stuck when we changed map.

Last night was an EA bad night. I had issues as well and as G-ZAPS post said there were connection issues with EA master server
Correct, loads of connectionissues aswell, after 23.00 it was allright again though...
EA was messing up pretty bad last night...:mad:
Yeah this morning around 3am had a blazing good round with a few of you guys and then wham I crashed to desktop.
:confused: following the link's advice now though.
I can play one round at the moment and when the next map is load it stops half way.
when i look in the task manager it says not responding. I have to shut down game after every round.
This just started this morning.
did you all try the link i posted there??? and are is in your taskmanager "punkbstrA" and "punkbstrB" active? just follow what the link tells you... it helped to let me play =) i hope so it helps you good luck

Mine is doing it again now..
Gets half way on loading screen then just stops!
Have to push the 'stand by' button just to get the windows task manger screen up to end it.

Is it titan suez? Try playing a conquest map first then try suez.
Also xfire has boogered me up recently turn it off if you have it on just to try.

Nor me, I've had the CTD issue and lost connection but I feel that was down to a spyware issue I've only just managed to tie down and solve.
However this issue has only occurred to multiple users of timeless suez1 since the update.
i tried the pb update.
I cant get into any servers now. not even on the first time of loading.
I'm due to install BF2142 again....is it wise to try to join a Timeless server right now :confused:

I think I shall hold off reinstalling till tomorrow morning then, I wonder if Wide screen support will come, I run 1680 by 1050... be nice to game in my native res :D

no i dont think so, i had this problem few weeks ago (or some days ^^ ) so the update didnt cause that problem for me =/ it was something else, but i didnt know so i just tried this link and did what it said but sill not worked =P lol then restarted and followed the link again and then it was ok =/ very strange

Well I shall reinstall soon though and give it a shot to be honest BF2142 is about all I game on these days so I am prepared to spend some time trying thing to get in and pwn on Timeless Titan or Suez Canal again :D

I got mine to work!!!!! :)
Had to uninstall then reinstall the game thou..
Then 1.25 patch, then NS update, then 1.25 patch again...
Took awhile but everything is working for the moment...
