For some reason some bf2142 are allowing me to join the server and load the map, just before I can start playing I kicks me saying I have a problem with my connection and I can't rejoin the server till I restart the game. This is only some servers, other servers work fine.

Also sometimes when click join server bf2142 just closes.

I fully reinstalled bf2142 and updated punkbuster.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards.

Could this be something to do with your profile?

Ah the joys of UDP. When you re-install BF2142 some registry values are not reset so to complete the program removal you also need to remove all traces of BF2142 from the registry. If you are not sure how to do it, don't, as fiddling with the registry can really spoil your day by making you computer unuseable until you completely clean down and re-install windows. This may help.

I know there is a step by step procedure for manually ininstalling BF2142 but I cannot find it at the moment, I think it was on the EA forums

I'm having similar problems. Rebuilt my PC recently with a new graphics card and my old motherboard. In most games now it will freeze saying there is a problem with your connection and then it disconnects and just brings up the regular message saying your connection to the server has been lost. It happens every other game on tampa and I havn't lasted on round of NS. It's a clean install, windows SP3, 2142 and NS with the 1.5 patch. To get back on a server I have to restart the computer. It kind of feels like router or network settings but the router hasn't changed but always used to work, the network settings are the regular ones. Suppose I havn't set a static I.P. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrr.

Does this ring any bells with anyone?

Thanks alth and hornet.

yes I have a good understanding of the registery and I use cc Clearner. All my registrly files are always clean.

I'm not 100% sure cc cleaner may have found those registry files so i'll give it another go.

Thanks.

Second reinstall and full bf2142 registry wipe (via regedit) still no change.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Proprietry registry cleaners will probably not find the unwanted entries as they are valid entries.
How about other games?

I am beginning to think firewall here, do you run a software firewall? Do you run a router with a NAT firewall? It is possible you need to program the NAT firewall to allow a couple of ports to open
http://www.gameconfig.co.uk/showdetail.asp?id=207

If that does not work perhaps you need to check your internet connection. BF2142 does work your computer very hard.
The other thing is punkbuster, I had to uninstall and reinstall manually a couple of time.

Weird, can't stay connected to the NS server for more than a round. It just cuts me off dead.

When it suggests a range of numbers, I can't work out how to enter that on the router.

TCP Ports
1024-1124, 4711, 17475, 18000,
UDP Ports
1024-1124, 1500-4999, 16567, 1

When it says 1024-1124, that's 100 indiviudual entries? 1500-4999!

In the router, I've found NAPT entries where it seems I can do one at a time (always works for teamspeak etc) and there's Multi-NAT entries, which I havn't quite worked out.

Which router do you have?
