View Full Version : Kicked from Timeless Titan Suez...

I've been away in foreign, sandy parts for a while hence me not posting here in the last nine or so months. Needless to say as soon as I had unpacked my bergen I headed straight for a Timeless server.

For a week now I've beed getting back into the saddle playing vanilla and NS, Tampa and Wake and Operational Shingle without any problems...until this evening.

Here we go then...shields were down on both Titans, the no-skill RDX noobs were creating havoc defending the top of their Titan from our attack. So I jump on the AA and fire a few 2 seconds bursts across the enemy Titan (killing two soldiers in the process). I then jump into a pod and as I'm flying across to the enemy Titan I see someone has typed something along the lines of "Kanon is spamming the AA"...the next thing I know I've been kicked!?

I would like to point out that I was not spamming the AA.

What happened to your admins warning players when rules have been breached (even though they were not in this case) or giving them a chance to explain their actions?

More than a little disappointed, so I thought I would let you know. Please check the server logs which will back up the comments I have made in this post.

Hi ...

it was me that banned you from Suez - cause you killed me with the AA Gun on the topdeck of our Titan. Your bursts were longer than 2 secs - as it needs a bit to kill a soldier up there. You got warned ingame before that, then i got up there to find some proof and it did not take long till you killed me up there ...

About the warning stuff - can you imagine how many warnings i issue during a normal evening at Suez (i do not kick players fast - but ...) ? Sometime it`s "enough", as when one AA Spammer get´s kicked - the next one is already in line and the common sense is totally lost. Sometimes it seems no1 really pays attention to ingame messages and warnings. Last evening there were several times messages like "##### Stop AA Spam or get kicked/banned #####"

I´ll talk with the other Admins about that case - but so far - you have some time to think about what you did.

Thanks for replying so promptly Tankster-Pete ;-)

Can I please ask for clarification on one point? Have I actually been banned for the Titan Suez server? I was under the impression that it was just a kick?

As for the warnings, I can only apologise if I missed the console messages directed at me  I can't offer any valid excuses so I will not attempt to make any.

For the record, I fully support your admin methods so don't think that I have an axe to grind. Having been a server admin for over 5 years for MoH, CoD:UO, CoD2, CoD4, BF2 (all flavours) and BF2142 (all flavours) I know exactly the amount of work involved and how the policing of and enforcing server policy can seriously interfere with an admin's enjoyment of a game. After all, admins would much rather be playing the game than spectating.

I look forward to your response to my request :)

Being kicked is a sure way to get the message across to the person in question that they are rule breaking. You can sit there and type 10 warnings and they might not see them.
9/10 times they log back on immediately and stop doing what they were kicked for, so it works and no harm done. Except perhaps some people's feelings...

@Kanon: You are unbanned now - but use the 2nd Chance, there will be no 3rd !

And now - play 8-)
