Squad Leader Beacon Exploit

In Gibralter server more and more players are being BANNED for using the exploit of pod surfing or pod spinning. This is sideways travel from squad leaders beacons for those that have never heard of it.

It is an exploit and players using it will be banned under our No 1 rule of "spoil game play and your banned"

Th whole point of Gibralter is to have a hard slog capturing and holding each flag. What on earth is the point of doing this only to have some cheapskate idiot, exploit something, to spin over everyones head and recapture flags behind the front line?

It makes a mockery of all the hard work, lost lives/tickets etc so is not allowed and WILL be banned without warning if seen by admins.

Oh btw.

last night i saw a clan who use this on the Titan server they put the beacon not at a silo they put the beacon between too silos surfing too the silos first i though they come from the titan but then i saw they can´t because the titan was not in the near from the silos.

I think you were in the game when I banned the entire TCF clan (bobsythebobcat etc). They were dominating every game by podding to all the flags from one beacon. :(

in regards to your banning for pod skimming m8 ..i totally agree with you ..it pisses me off ... and it defo ruins the game ...but alas i dont have power to stop them ..i just tell them to stop etc and get abuse ... or they do the silent treatment .....but another thing is a few players .. who are quite high on leaderboards who do use timeless and use the forums ... think their doing no wrong etc ..and i have pointed it out before on the forum who and what they were doing but maybe your supreme authority will change their mind muhahahaha....or maybe not ... me i just keep around the area they tend to drop into and just knife them for spite ... and when they moan tell them their exploiting the dynamics and spoiling the balance of the game /map and ..wait for the abuse :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I don't mind people drifting 100meters, but when they are using it to get to silos from ridiculous distances then it's exploiting in my opinion.

Leeway can be given for different maps I think. Getting onto roof tops may be ok if its not that far. But as said by TK, changing the game dynamics is not going to make the servers popular if it gets out of hand.

As an admin I think I am there to make the game enjoyable for everyone and not just the elite few who think they are above the crowd, regulars or not. I agree with JX3Aroo that its ok in general to drift a bit, especially if your beacon has campers on it lol. In Gibralter though 100 metres is the distance between flags so its down to the individual admin I guess to see if the skimming/surfing is ruining the game play.

I made a couple of poor quality diagrams to show the problem.
One squad grabbed a jeep as soon as they spawned and shot through to Central Camp where they placed a spawn beacon. Then the squad spawned on it and surfed to all the nearest flags within seconds of the game starting. I saw it happening on one round but was not sure who it was. The next time that squad played PAC i watched and caught them doing it.

The previous time when they were EU i found out who it was because they placed a beacon at toll station and surfed past the bottleneck at the gates behind the PAC lines to retake the Harbour.

Since that time I have sat patiently watching the game map and seeing more and more players podding accross the voids to get to the roofs of nearby flags.

Talk about ruining game play.

white noise is banned for pod surfing lol. I caught him earlier on. he was podding between central and the EU base.

I will be watching for others.

.:iE/ CON91 was podsurfing late afternoon on CQ + NS sever...
His squad had a beacon on the roof of a building between EU base and first flag on Bridge map, he was pod surfing behind us, who were trying to snip his squad, and knifing ppl left, right and centre.
Know one was expecting it coz he WAS on the roof 150m away...
Anyway think he got kicked, but just thought i'd let u know :)

Not to spoil it they are practiceing on the titan servers have seen it over the last couple of days, as for it being allowed I think not a spawn beacon is what it says it is a "beacon" that means where ever it is placed thats where you will land within a short radius of say 3 meters take that away then you would have the sky full of noobs raceing around it would end up worse than those bunny hoppers with RDX's same thing your supposed to place the demo packs not jump lob an blow, clever but sumount's to the same thing its just another glitche lol and spoils it for those who want a decent game and fun lol
