I downloaded Vista service pack 1 but cant install it. It says I need to have the Windows 64 bit installer? Anyone know where I can get this please?

Weird, sounds like you have downloaded the wrong SP1, E.G. the 32 bit version instead of 64.

Not sure. :|

I managed to install it ok. I don't get many problems now. Most games run perfectly. I just remember the bad old days of stuttering (until the hotfix came along). The only problem I had was the 4GB RAM issue where I couldnt install any more than 3GB as Vista just wouldnt run.

Vista is still crap compared to XP in terms of benchmarking and will always run slower.

I'm working on my new system right now. I've just bought a Striker Extreme Motherboard a clocked GT8800 (but Nvidia are announcing a brand new next gen card this coming week) and I am waiting now on my new 3.0 ghz Intel Q6600

I tried Vista x64 Ultimate, may try it again on my other HD..

It's a lot faster than XP when navigating around the Operating System in general.. but as for games nothings suppored, so you have to select "run in compatability Mode: Windows XP" for your games. Otherwise it'll just kick out some random error. This was the case with Me.

However

My mate installed it too and he got COD4, 2142 working no problems didn't even have to run in compatability mode or Administrator.

64+Games = random.
