Recently, my CD Drive has been making my computer sluggish, several months ago I'd be able to install a program in about 20 minutes whilst being able to use other programs without any drop in performance. Now, it takes about three times as long to install programs and it causes massive lag and jerk on other programs whenever a file is even just being copied across from a CD onto the computer, let alone when I install something. Ideas anyone?
It could be on it's way out.. that happened to one of mine recently, started making much more noise and took 3 times longer to write/read stuff.
I purchased a new one, there's nothing else you can really do. :(

Thanks, I'm going to take a proper look at it tomorrow hopefully so will see how burnt it looks :P

Right, update, had a proper look at it and it was definately out of it so I've brought myself a brand new Drive, it makes a really nice humming noise whenever a disk is played :)
