Now I've been playing on your servers since BF2142 was released and I must say that the vast majority of the time they are a great place to play, join in with some banter and basically have a laugh after a hard day's work, so thanks a million for Timeless :D
Now onto my gripe which I know many others share with me. RDX whores. Always the first to complain if you get the better of their macros and easy kill tactics, the RDX whore, in my opinion is having a detremental effect on the Timeless Titan Servers.
I did say in my opinion, however quite a few other players have stated in conversation that the Timeless servers are fast becoming a carbon copy of the [N@M] server in that Recon troops will form a mass defence of their Titan and destroy everyone as soon as they land. This might well be because most schools in the UK have now broken up so you're now getting the younger, more immature players on more often.
This use of RDX in this fashion spoils the enjoyment of the game for the opposing force. Which I believe is against your rules.
Tonight the only way to remove the RDX'ers was to lay down sustained fire with the Titan AA guns. Fire was not directed at the hanger shields but only on the areas of the hull where the enemy troops were congregating, waiting with detonators ready in their hands.
As soon as myself and another team member started to make some kills the RDX'ers started complaining as we were now getting the better of them.
Tonight the Titans were side by side and both had lost their shields yet the opposition made no attempt to assault the Titan. Instead they opted for the mass RDX defence method. We won the map easily by simply holding all the silos. Towards the end of the map most of my team were sat on our Titan just watching the missiles hit the enemy Titan. The RDX'ers, interested only in adding the easy RDX kills to their personal score and not on influencing the outcome or the overall performance of their team, did not even attempt recapture any silos :roll:
Now I know that AA spamming is also against your rules so I'm willling to listen to suggestions on how to counter the threat of mass RDX whores defending a Titan.
To go some way in repairing the good name of TimelessGaming it might be worth considering enabling team damage for RDX. This would make the RDX'ers think twice about how they use their explosives, make them more tatically aware of their role and distance the Timeless servers further from and introduce a key differentiator to the [N@M] copy.
Anyway, I'll sit back now and wait for some responses. No doubt the RDX'ers will have a fair bit say in their defence and I'm sure that I will enjoy reading their comments ;)

I dont play Titan because it is a bit boring with the routine of jumping to Titan then blowing some people up with the RDX and then starting again.
But when I go as a squad, I find it easy to get into the titan and blow up it just as the shields go down.
I see so many people complaining that they are being killed with RDX then next time they spawn, they land at the same place on the titan and get blown away again. Why not join a squad, land somewhere sensible and then go and blow the titan up. This stops the players standing on top of the titan getting their points.

I share your sentiments Kanon. I used to play titan pretty much exclusively. when we were sh*t hot at taking it down in an organised squad a couple of mins after the shield went down. Back then some people did actually bother trying to get silos, so there were only a few rdxers hanging about defending. Then people started to realise that the best way for points and kill death ratio was not to leave the titan, and hang about it with rdx. My last couple of titan games, about 90% of the opposite team must have stayed on their titan the whole game, and when we tried to assault it, it was pretty much impossible. And when was the last time you managed to assault the titan like the old days zap?
Anyway, beyond my opinion, the titan servers are extremely popular, because people do like to play like that. I hate it, so I stick to the conquest, where out in the open I'll take out an rdxer 9/10 times with my trusty voss before he gets near me.
The 2 main reasons I don't play any titan maps is because I get bored of it, and RDX! I always play on the CQ+NS server.
Don't get me wrong, I don't oppose people using RDX, but I much prefer shooting the enemy. Using explosives over and over again gets boring and takes the fun out of it, and sometimes shows that the people using it only want higher stats.
I would find it very funny if friendly fire can be turned on only for RDX. Just set the rule to auto-kick players after 4 team kills and watch the server lose a load of players after enemy troops land on their titan!
The last time I managed to assault the titan was was last week. Me and Ashoof and a few others joined the game and then went on to blow the thing up within a few minutes of the shield going down (remember most of them are on top of the titan, land on the lower level and get in there).
There was no RDX fest on top.
As I said the only way to stop them getting a high score is charging the titan when the shields go down.
Last time I did it they were all waiting for their shield to go down. And I mean all.
You do make a good point. However this is a difficult one.
On one hand you have people who wan't to go get silo's and then attack the titan when shields are down and then you get people who constantly sit on titan guns gunning down all the people who are out there doing the business.
Then once the shields are down these people go out on top the titan and just constantly sit up top as you say with "finger on trigger". These are usually the high scorers who are a big draw for this server and one of the reasons it is always full.
If we turned the ff off then we would lose a lot of these players as this is a main draw for the server along with moveable titans.
On the other hand if we did this we would get more people who would play titan due to it not being filled with "RDX whores" as you say and hence being more fair and balanced.
I personally don't know how the server would react to turning ff off but i suppose if ashoof want's to test this he can and we can see if the server is still full. I think he has did this before but everyone started moaning so he turned it off again.
what do you think of FF on on titan i have switch the FF on for some time to see the the reponse of the players some like it some dont what shull we do ?
make poll again for this FF on OFF
finding a good sqoud to play with in this game makes fun and very very effective
other way of doing this if thay are over defending the titan let them be take the silos watch thm go down :)

I'll play on one of my clan's servers which are all FF ON but after a while I'll get fed up with the TK punishes and the moaning and its then that I just want to jump onto a top notch Timeless Gaming FF OFF server and have some fun without the worry of my team players throwing themselves in the way of my Voss :roll:
Please note I am not asking for FF to be turned ON. I know you can configure the server to be FF OFF but have FF ON for certain weapons, i.e RDX, APMs, motion mines etc, etc.
I'd like Timeless to consider just enabling FF ON for RDX and this would soon bring about the removal of the nuisance RDX numpties and replace them with players who (hopefully) now how to use RDX tactically.

I wasn't aware you could just turn ff off for certain aspects instead of all things. That would be more appropriate i think. What do you guys think?
Its very difficult.... proof is in the pudding i say. Although i agree quite a lot with some things above, i do disagree quite a lot with others. *bites tongue*
I also think that all servers should have identical settings, all ff-on for all objects and weps etc. More points for squad play and takin a silo/flag, half a point for a titan gun kill, more points for vehical kills by hand weps and so on.
I do have one blunt question tho, if all servers did have identical rules and settings, would Timeless be as popular today, if from day one it used FF-ON ?

If you can't beat them then join them. it's not exactly hard to take down RDX'ers just keep at a distance and shoot them. Or even just take the silos instead of attacking, there is many ways around it.
But i know that the timeless servers are fine as they are, they are ALWAYS full and have many regular players who visit the servers everyday.

Kanon you know if you keep just 1 or 2 rdx handy you can pud to thier titan and as soon as you land near them you can booom them thats what i do when i fancy some RDX party on top of titan but i soon get bord of it 1 or2 round max for me
or just keep one C4 which makes it boom very fast as soon as you land
Kanon Foddah. Not every server suits everybody and there is always someone who moans about somethin in every server i've ever been to. If Timeless does not suit you m8y, find a server that does. Timeless does on the other hand seem to suit a great deal of people, high rank low rank etc and there are many regulars and different types of players and skill levels in all the Timeless games. Unfortunately i dont think the scoring system in BF2142 is a very fair one and some people have different ideas on getting points quickly however that may be. You're not gonna get the gold in Timeless suez if there is a good 'RDX party' you don't feel welcome in, i pretty much guarantee it'll be one of these RDXer's. Don't blame the server m8, don't blame the players for 'spoiling' the server(s) This is a points gaining tactic that people have accquired via a poor points/rank/weapons system developed by EA. Try the NS/CQ Timeless server, its not titan but its a good game. ;)

Thanks for the replies guys. Over the last few days the RDXers seem to have calmed down quite a bit which is good news for me :)
I used to get annoyed with them and pod straight back to get my revenge...which would 90% of the time end up with them getting another kill and with me kicking the cat :roll:
If there's an RDX party on any of the Titans I'll just go and defend and/or capture silos and see if we can sneak a victory that way ;)

Its all or nothingI've just checked and you're right. Its APMs you can set to over-ride the server's FF OFF setting (sv.friendlyFireWithMines)...although this my also apply to motion mines as well.

Always a tricky question. I like to use RDX in titan defense but in corridors etc and lie in wait. I am not a bunny hopper hehe.
Having said that if the game is close then i will go silo grabbing. people play how they want to play.
As to FF on or off I have no real preference. It adds a little excitement to the game and makes the skill mix more crucial with it off. But it loses all the anger and frustration of tk punishes and all the lack of teamwork and ill feeling that comes with all the punishes and no forgives.
Have different weeks for different modes and suck it and see.
We could always set up another Titan server with friendly fire on. We will then see how popular it is. I might even go back there for some squadplay although the RDX would have to stay in the pocket.
Nobody is playing on the BF2 server (which is a shame, considering the number of people we have in the forum - surely some of them must have BF2) so we could turn that off.
What do you think Shoofster ?

Wot i think happened to the trial of ff-on Timeless titan is... the regulars that visit that server realised ff was on and did not stay nor come back. I do believe tho that if there is a Timeless titan ff-on, that this would eventually fill up with players that prefer the ff-on servers. IMO tho it will take longer to fill and maintain a group of regulars in a timless titan ff-on titan server than in an identical timeless titan ff-off server. ff-off seems more popular i think but there is definately a market for an ff-on server, obviously but its never gonna be as popular as other Timeless ff-off servers. I think its worth a week or 2 trial Ash. Its not gonna be much demand on the monster rigz you got anyway. I have played some ff-on/off titan servers with fixed titans too which increases squad play quite a lot. :)

I think you should make a FF-On titan server and see how it goes. Fixed Titans would be a bit much just for the trouble getting on the titan.

Timeless Gaming has a very good reputation for providing quality BF2142 FF-OFF servers. You should be able to build on this and provide a FF-ON server with no real problems.
Its the Timeless "brand" that keeps players coming back for more and more...and more. If players can get the same fun on a FF-ON server which are managed and administered to the same standards as the FF-OFF servers then you should have another winner on your hands :D
Its hard enough to get onto any of the FF-OFF Titan servers as it is so I'd keep the two Titan and the CQ FF-OFF servers and add a FF-ON server as a fourth :)

Heres a suggestion. Make a FF ON Titan game and make it illegal for Commander to sit in gun seats on the Titan!
I make this suggestion because as you have quite rightly suggested combat commanders are not supporting their team. Likewise commanders using the titan guns cannot support their team and cannot use the gun effectively at the same time.
Incidentally i was blown to smithereens by one of your admins using RDX on his titan a few days ago. I watched in the message window and thats ALL how his kills were collected. Perhaps your Titan guys need a refreshing change to improve their other skills from time to time?
After all throwing RDX around means you might be slacking in switching from gun to knife to pistol etc.

Commanders who sit in titan guns are not doing their job properly/effectively and are also idle in the titan gun too while they do command so i believe this is not a good idea m8 as someone else can do a good job in titan gun and another can do a good job commanding. If u do a good job commanding and you've got a good team, you should get close to top score or even the gold itself most of the time. ;)

Commanders should not be on the guns.

RDX on a FF Conquest map is just as good as a Titan map the difference is a Titan is in the air lol!! I must say that there are alot moaning about FF being off so lets just say if you want to play on FF on servers then your playing on the wrong one's here and you should go else where for that I've said this before "Timeless Servers" are FF off thats what makes them great and fast playing whether its Titan or Conquest your scores on the door's at the end of each round will show this if you kill a team mate by accident by any means then your punished and it could anything from RDX to sitting in a tank or walker you kill an enemy with a team mate just behind by accident and he punishes you then your score will show at the end of the round 45 kills but no score because of the punishes you get deducted for this lol!!
to sum up Timeless plays with FF off and thats why it's one of the best in the world and played on by the best nuff saids thanks for the post lol!!!
Thats a good post =) do not play on Timeless if you do not like FF OFF servers.. but the Timeless servers are damn great! so its hard not to play on them lol
