Hi
I was kicked today as a fighting commander.
I am sure you get many people complaining about rules etc but sometimes i think admins can be over zealous. Today on the Suez server my assetts were blown up.
By the description in the rules the Commander is not allowed to fight. He is there to support the troops. Without assetts I could not do that. I podded off the titan to go repair the various items only to get killed by the enemy who was lying in wait.
I respawned back on the titan and just waited for someone to either kill him or him to go away. Eventually after a few minutes this happened and someone repaired my assetts.
Next thing I was kicked for fighting.
I hardly think that a straight kick was justified as I never attempted to go back and sort this. I was waiting on the titan for the assetts to be repaired.
I think this sort of over zelous admin decision can spoil peoples enjoyment and ruin the server atmosphere.
Perhaps you can discuss this in your admin forum and achieve some sort of guideline where commanders who repeat errors such as attemtping several times to repair or kill the enemy are kicked.
It was unfortunate because people in the game were constantly complaining about AA spamming but the admin did not do anything about that. Probably he saw i had ONE death and kicked me without knowing what exactly happened. (He had the server high score at the time and my doubled commander score would have given him silver incidentally!)
You can of course check the server log to see the events. I admit to being rude about the event because it was a little strange to be kicked like that.
Admins should admin and not play and then clean up afterwards without knowing the events for which they kick people.
As usual I am sure the entire admin commitee will flame me and say things like admins are god etc. I accept this but i DO hope you discuss this and see your way clear to allowing commanders one attempt to support their troops by repairing their assetts if no one else does it for them. If they fail then more fool them for going back to try again!
I enjoyed Timeless servers but sadly i will not play them again. There are hundreds of other servers out there where admins are a little more level headed than the one that kicked me.

I was watching in the console and we are having problems with fighting commanders. If you do play here a lot then thats what happens to fighting commanders. If you were not warned then sorry about that.
Lysergzwerg1 is a good admin and that is reflected by us having no complaints about him.

So no I dont think he gets a real thrill for being admin. He is just doing his best.
Maybe if you weren't so rude in the game, he could have explained more to you.
And if you do find better servers to play on, then on you go. It's a shame really.

Yes I was rude. I have emailed ashoof and already apologised for that.
The truth is I was not warned at all. In fact I beleive the admin did not even know the circumstances as the kick came at least 5 mins after I was killed trying to do the repairs. I belive he was too busy trying to play the game, saw that I was killed and kicked me. At the time of the kick I was very safe on the titan dropping supply crates whilst I was waiting for the assetts to be repaired.
At the end of the day your server fun depends on the quality of the enjoyment you provide. If your admins are not conscienscous about how they respond to various situations then more and more people will go play other servers.
Whilst I generally respect admins and have even sponsored battlefield 2 servers and websites to the tune of hundreds of euros a year that I used to play on, this time I think the admin was in the wrong.
I will be the first one to stand up and say that commanders should not fight. To be honest i don't think they should sit in the titan gun seats either! but that is allowed!
Yes I was rude. I was badly treated IMHO and I said so. Instead of a relastic reply the admin scolded me as though i was not a welcome player. Surely your admins are there to help me enjoy the game as much as the next person?
The game was 1/3rd through and all that time I had been on the Titan guiding, supplying, emping. Your admin should have known this so I disagree that it was right to kick me. I was unable to support my troops and did what any normal person would have done.
This may well be a classic issue that your admins get flamed for being over zealous but this is not a case of a commander not doing his job by being involved in fighting!
As I have said, please take the time to discuss this amongst yourselves so that you can reach agreement and have a set of FAIR and RIGHT guidelines on how to deal with this exact situation.

P.S I made the rude comment as the messages showed some admin commands in error so I made a rash assumption that the admin was a bit new to the job. I was in the wrong. (You can check the log to see that btw) I apologise. Generally i am an OK guy.

we all get angry sometimes. Sometimes issues happen, it depends on us how we deal with it. We all do mistakes, lets not point fingers. We really do listen to all players and trust me the last thing we like to do is to kick.
If you have somthing with rules, plz enlighten us. We are trying to make rules simple and easy for al if so then it become a fine line where i beleve this issue has occurred.
If you really think that we made a mistake by kicking you then i apologize on behalf of the admins. They are trying to keep the timeless server fun for all

That is a kind reply considering I have been rude and disrespectful to an admin. Thankyou.
I think I have made my point now and will bear the Timeless servers in mind in the future. I totally understand and agree about the difficult and often thankless task being an admin involves.
I think in this issue the rules were applied too strictly and hopefully it is now a past issue and resolved. Fighting coomanders are an issue I totally agree. However commander should not end up like you know who (K*IN).
I visited their server when it popped up a while ago thinking it was a Timeless one.. (I know the issue now). All he does is take commander position and sit at AA gun seat and then go AFK. I have seen him play nearly 12 hours as Titan commander without moving, making any command functions like UAV or even speaking. Now that IS sad hehe.
