View Full Version : Very High settings in DX9
Very cool, very pretty, very enjoyable game.
Finished game on hardest settings and the Koreans actually speak Korean.
Graphics and gameplay are superb. not tried Multiplay yet but Farcry was good and my friends that are already playing MP Crysis say this is very good too.
It is possible to tweak the graphics in this game to allow the higher settings that are supposed to be only available to Vista and DX10 users. Using the following it is possible to get the very high graphics options unlocked with XP.

You will need some sort of super computer to get max settings though.
Shadows, shaders and maxed out AA are the things that tend to grind the graphics card to a halt. So by tweaking these you can still get very good performance.
I tried the above but found the game just as enjoyable using the normal in game settings set to medium.
A DX10 game that runs without DX10 is not a DX10 game lolz. we all wanna see a
new DX10 game like Crysis run maxed out... I think it took Far Cry over 1.5 years
to max out at the time it was released. I've bought this game but i simply can't
play it unless i've got DX10 at over 30 fps with settings resonably high....
doh... its torture honestly. ;)
Couple of interesting articles... i've posted about the Alky project before.
This will interest Non Vista users who wanna get comfy with DX10.

Unfortunately it looks like this project has ended around about the
beta stages i think...

Yep, my toys will remain outside the pram (and the game untouched) until it runs on very high in DX10 - should be possible with 2 SLI'd 8800GTX you would have thought? Yep, thats what I thought but apparently not.
The new patch is out soon but that doesn't seem to contain any optimisation judging by the info i've seen.
It sucks imho....I bought the game based on the pre-release marketing (awesome trailers, etc) but I doubt anyone has enjoyed actually playing the game like that!
btw if the multi-player is anything like the beta, it sucks. No ranking, only ranking per round so every round you begin from scrath with crap weapons. Bleh!
Its a good thing HW tech remains behind the game tech imo...
I'd be so bored, i'd stay in all day with our new pink bunny.
I'm up for the 9800x2 SLI and i really believe a 3rd one will be a waste of money..
Prob only for the fanatics.... that is unless you believe SLI isn't fanatical enough !
