As title, because I would like to hear more of the environment instead of the inyourface soldier voices. Tried the voicehelp setting, but that does nothing. I dont think there is a way, but someone may know how to hack the settings or something?
The help voice is the sound that you get from all the tips and helps (white message boxes) that appear when you do something for the first time, if this is at 0% you cant heat (and I think not even see them)
You can decrease the sound of VOIP .. but I think you mean the commands.. hmm dont know where this works but there are 2 other sound setting things.. one is for ingame sound like explosions and something like that and shooting and maybe the other is for the commands and talking guys.. or not =( sry
EDIT : There are 3 bars to change the volume for :
-Effects This is like the explosions and shooting sounds I think =) so maybe you can decrease this and you will not hear your mates/weapons that loudly
-Music I guess this is for the music that you get in BF2142 e.g. when you join a server, you know the music in the background
-Help-Voice thats what I said before for the white message boxes that give you "noob" tips lol =)

Yer, cheers. Saw them. Its the bloody annoying soldiers screaming out for a medic and all that. It too loud for my liking and would like to hear more of the environment..like anyone behind me etc. Just wish there was some kind of tweak for it.
Then just decrease the volume of effects and increase the volume of Music.. I think that will work then

Dont like the music..thats off as well. Wonder if the sound.con file can be altered in anyway. I dont understand those files, so if anyone is familiar with them? Without punkbuster kicking of course.

Coolchris,
If you alter any in game files, then servers that run stringent PB checks (such as the Timeless servers) unfortunately will kick you!! Best not to mess with them if you like your online play m8 ;)!!
What can and does have an effect from personal experience that could possibly help towards this issue is your "Sound Hardware" itself!!!
What sort of Hardware have you got, ie which Soundcard and it's specs, and what sort of Speaker system or set up do you have too?? Do you also have EAX enabled or disabled in game too??? Is your sound rendered by Hardware or Software, etc etc etc??

Hi mate. Yer I thought that it would affect the Pb..just a thought. I personally dont know who to edit them anyways, so that out the window.
Well my specs are probably the best you can get really. I got the Auzentech Prelude 7.1, latest drivers with full EAX high resolution sound..ultra quality effects in 2142 settings. i use the Creative Fatality Headphones.
All I want it just to have lower soldier voices so that I can concentrate on the environment better..you know..if anyone trys to sneak up on you etc. In other words use the EAX to its most full.
You gotta admit, the voices are just too in-the-face. It would be great to have had some kind of mixer so you can alter the sounds to your liking and setup. Pie in the sky now I suppose..hmm might suggest it to Dice for BF3. Cant be that difficult to implement I would have thought. Other FPS games have this option.
Ah wait.. whenever you change any files you cant even join a server, I think you get the message then "you cannot play there with a modified game" or something like that.. so ? not possible to do that =(
Lolz oppozzum's been hackin again hehe
Lolz oppozzum's been hackin again hehe
1. Opozzum pls xD only 1 p and 2 z =P lol
2. No I dont... but the same problem is with Bf2142 and NS.. if you install NS and dont patch it says you have modified version of the game =)
I am no hacker in BF2142 =) maybe in other games but not online and not BF2142 !!!
Maybe you are one?!?! lol

LOLOLOL Hornet and Oppozum hehe ;)!!
CoolChris,
Sounds a nice set up m8 :)!! Shame you have Hardware like that and you playing the game through a Headset though!! No doubt you do that to use the in game VOIP, or maybe so the rest of the house doesn't have to hear you getting owned hehe (delete as applicable) ;)????.
Personally I have the VOIP turned off most of the time, I use it just occassionaly when playing with certain other players (such as Hornet etc hehe :) ). Otherwise, it's all turned off, and what you describe is not an issue :). Admittedly I do have the luxury of a Laptop beside me also, which I run Ventrillo or Teamspeak on to communicate via that with clan m8's etc, so yes, it can depend even more so on personal circumstance, blah, blah lol!!
However, if you had as an example a 6 x Speaker Surround System (5.1 - 7.1, or whatever one prefers, again as an example, 1 x Subwoofer and 5 x Satellites), and then play the game through that, then you'd find the voice overs would be a lot less intense and whatsmore, you get a much enhanced 3D Sound Environment as well, it does make a huge difference m8, you can tell where other players are from the source of a sound (such as a Knife being drawn out of it's Hilt, the enemy communicating, or even them "farting" hehehe). The voice overs then only transmitt through the relevant speaker at any given moment too, dependant on your orientation to the source obviously!!
If you are in a position to try it through your speakers (if you still need a Mic. you can still wear a Headset too), then do so, see what you think :)! If not, ignore my waffle, tell me to go away, and I'll get my "Hat and Coat" m8 hehehe ;)!!
It certainly creates a far more immersive environment if you make the most out of the sound hardware options that are available if you have them :)??!!!
Regards, Wolf :)!!
I gotta agree though sometimes the voice over's are a bit loud.
I got 4 volume settings on my headset (only 5.1) front, rear, center and Bass.
I do turn one of em down sometimes to reduce this loud voice over wotsit
but not sure which one lolz... (center or rear) but you will lose other useful
sounds by doing so.
If you do this and you spend a great deal of time moving side to side etc
which most of us do then you'll hear everything almost as normal really but
if you are near motionless for a great deal of time then you will be vulnerable
to attacks from behind or from the side. I am more aware of this when i turn the
one setting down. Hope this helps a little lol. ;)

Thanks for the replys lads. I do have a 7.1 speaker setup going through my Onkyo 605 reciever, but the speakers are placed around the telly's listening environ, not the monitor, so i wont really get the effects properly..thats why I use the headphones. Dont get me wrong, I can hear all the effects great with the EAX on the Cans..like I can tell the heli is overhead and where it is..and also where the troops are etc, but its just the voiceovers are just too loud and block out some sound that could be the difference between death or life...now you know why Im always being killed. (ok thats my excuse for being sh*t,lol)
Anyways, looks like it cant be done for this particular game. Just have to bare it. It would have been nice to turn it off like you can the music..which is annoying as well, hehe.
