Hi
I'm running Vista 64bit and using onboard sound. Realtek HD Audio. Thing is when I try to use ventrilo I get no sound in my headset and the mic doesn't work either. I've installed the latest drivers but nojoy. Headset and mic works no problem within BF2142 and using skype.
Anybody else had any problems like this and do you have a solution?
Ehm maybe this is garbage what Im telling you but it could be that your firewall blocks Ventrilo.. do you use a firewall? Is it allowed by firewall to use Ventrilo? If not then allow it =)
Another reason could be.. you did not turn on your microphone.. but if you say you can talk in BF2142 or Skype... then this is not the reason ... =( sry
Perhaps you activated Push-To-Talk in Ventrilo or muted yourself =) try all this and if not.. lol someone else will have a solution for you =)

I'll look at the firewall but I don't think thats the issue but i'll let you know if it is.

No not firewall. Something else. Might just get myself a sound card.
Hmm dont think the sound card is the problem, when your microphone works in BF2142 and in Skype so ? Why shall it not work in Ventrilo.. you have to change something.. you can deactivate your Windows-Firewall (and use antivirus progs)
and try it then.. if you already did.. Im sorry, I dont know anything else =(
but I wish you good luck =)
have you tried going into setup in ventrilo and changing the input and output device.
^^ what G-Zap said, that's normally the case.

Yeah done that. No it's probably something simple. But i'm doing a complete reinstall due to other issues, so i'll wait and see.
Thanks for the ideas though guys, much appreciated.
