Hi All

I fancy doing a bit of overclockling for a laugh as I reckon I'll be able to get away with it without frying hardware.

I was thinking of overclocking my CPU - Q6600 form 2.4GHz to around 3GHz. I think HORN3T has done something similar, anyone got any pointers? My MOBO is an EVGA 680 SLI, so it's Nvidia ntune. Can anyone point me at any n00bish overclocking guides? Will I need to invest in any non-standard cooling?

Also, I have 4GB of 1000MHx DDR2, can I change the voltage on this to get more out of it? Is it worth it? Will I notice much difference? If so, any n00b guides would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Take a look here for O/C. http://forum.micromart.co.uk/Topic173843-29-1.aspx
By rights you should be able to O/C to 3Ghz with the standard cooler no problem at all.

you need good programms that show you your cpu temperation then you need prime too test your cpu after you have oced and you must run prime a half day too see if your temp“s go too high.the next is with 4x1 gb ram you can have probs i have no idea what happend on intel boards with a quad but i have a amd dual core name is toledo witch i have oced from 1,6 each core too 2.8 each core and i can bring it too 3.0 when i use watercooling system.

also you need a good programm too oc you cpu i have not in my mind witch programm i used but i will search what name it was!
