Hi got a wide screen monitor but when I play BF2142 I don't get a widescreen picture. Do you know of anyway to get it working in widescreen?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Punkbuster and EA decided not to include Widescreen, as they felt it gave an unfair advantage.
There is a way, this is from Widescreengaming's website;
Battlefield 2142 does not have native widescreen support. To force a custom resolution, edit your game shortcut so it looks like the following:
"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050
Edit the numbers after '+szx' and '+szy' to match your desired resolution. '+sxy' is horizontal and '+szy' is vertical. In this example, the game would launch in 1680x1050
Hope that helps

Thanks for that muppethunter. Just one thing though, would punkbuster or EA kick me for having modified game?

I believe it cuts the top and bottom off a bigger resolution, so you can't see as much but the resolution is correct.
muppethunter it works fine for me as i am doing 2560 x1600 but the problem is when i print screen it dos not show in the pain program when i paste it thier
I think this site is not that far to get help for ALL games you want, but for BF2142 it does too

The same that Muppethunter said, when you click CMD Line for BF2142 WideScreen you will see the command =)
I got a 22" WideScreen too and I already did that with the game.exe and EA said nothing, so its not illegal or something else, since you can do that in many online games... look Counter-Strike to get a console.. just the same way

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll give it a go when I'm free of my children and the wifes in bed.:20:
Hey fellas, don't mean to gravedig an old thread, but I encountered this issue awhile ago and found the perfect solution. I'm running a 30" at 2560x1600. If you own a WS display and do nothing, you'll simply see the game full screen in a normal aspect ratio. If you edit the shortcut it will widen the FOV, but shorten it top and bottom as mentioned. There are a few hacks that eliminate this, but they warp the HUD and minimap and are PB sensitive.
This guy: http://imk.cx/pc/widescreenfixer/ is a friggin' God!
I've been running this for a year now, without black bars, warping, framerate impact, or inflaming PB. Enjoy!
