Who's waiting for these babies?

$450 US so UK hope to be around £250 or so.

I wonder how much the Ultra equivalent will cost? £300 ?

Tri-SLI would be sweet...... Might be able to max out Crysis on that looolz

Any more news on these... dump it here guys.... :43:

I recently purchased an 8800GT for £180.

If they are £250 for one of those things i'll be so disappointed with myself. :(

Dayum...

My recent(ish:- June '07) 8800 GTX XXX was £400 (and are still holding at £350 - £375 depending where you look lol)!! I was waiting for the particular model I have to drop in price to pair that damn thing up lol!!

If they release a high end 9800 GTX for like £300, or even less after paying that, it'll certainly pull my chain too rofl!!

I have a sneaky feeling the 9800 GTX's (XXX's and Ultra's too) will cost a wee bit more than £250 - £300 though hehe!!!

As hard as it may be and a challenge I would not be insulted ashoof, if you asked me to try to find a home for the crap.com graphics cards you have now... Once you replace them with these Ultra 9800's and need to throw them away.

Oh wile you are at it why not throw away the motherboard so you can can get one with more PCI-E's

(I asked first)

Mmmm I think 640k ought to be enough for anyone lolz.

DX10 is a beast, gonna be hard to tame this with just one card this year.

It would be nice but i doubt we will see Crysis maxed out this year

with just one GFX card. *hungry* :p

on 2142 wi graphics set on low all shadows and light effects dissappear, this puts the high end settings user like myself at a dissadvantage for hiding in shaded places. so a low end graphics user will see you quicker, strange but true.

YOU WILL ALWAYS NEED A NEW GRAPHICS CARD!!!!:30: (plus the new CPU and motherboards and ram to keep up with it...)

Hope the following news is not true.... It was due for release 14th Feb

Some bad news coming from the NVIDIA corner, if true. Expreview reports that almost all of NVIDIA’s upcoming products will be delay till March. That includes: nForce 780a, 750a, 790i, 790i and Ultra chipsets, as well as the GeForce 9800 GX2 graphics. There's no official reason for the delay, neither new release dates. The delay will probably make ATI's Radeon HD 3870 X2 video card, the fastest available graphics in the market for a while. Only GeForce 8200 will make it in time and stick to its original February launch schedule.

28-01-2008, 17:41
Probably won't market anything until ATI/AMD come along with there next card, then NVIDIA will be there with the next lot to wipe the floor with them again.

GUEST
28-01-2008, 18:18
Well the New ATI 3870x2 is currently the fastest card out there but LOLZ

only just beating the NVIDIA 8800 ultra. I think it will be safe to go with

the 9800x2's when they come, they do need 2 power connectors too tho

dammit...

I've seen a few benchmarks, er, somewhere... For dual SLI and TRI-SLI

and it does look like Tri-SLI is not gonna be worth the extra few hundred quid

for the sake of 5-10fps in crysis etc. This may be due to early drivers and teething

problems tho, we'll have to see. TBH i really cant see me having TRI-SLI but only

SLI 9800x2 as tri-sli would leave no room for anything else on the mobo...

IE... X-FI and Wireless NIC (i need 2 pci slots) UNLESS these cards are released

as single slot dual cards looolz - not gonna happen.... one other thing..

The power you'll need to run these 3 cards is on the silly side... Its getting

rediculous now, you'll need a good 1k PSU i would say for peace of mind.

Plus a few extra quid a week for electricity bills !! Well the time when the PC

keeps your living room nice and warm is just about upon us i think lolz.

I think i'm gunning for two 9800's X2 this summer.. that should keep me sweet

......That is until DX11 FFS. :56:

If you guys are buying these cards as soon as they are released then you are either stonking rich or pure avto-avit freaks.

Apart from Crysis, what is the point at the moment anyway. And once you have finished crysis, then what?
I'll laugh my tits off if you still can't run crysis maxed out with these new toys.

It also means you will have to run Vista (YUK) to utilise DX10, and that of course means you will also need silly amounts of RAM.
Most games are only just getting to grips with the fact there are dual core processors. 2142 certainly does not utilise both cores.

With these new graphics cards, tri SLi and the quad core chips now being available, there is hardly, if any software out there that will enable you to show off your new gizmos.
Think I will wait a while, probably a long while, before upgrading to that extent.

I also think you guys must be of a similar mindset to all my overclocking buddies.

Yeah, I know, I'm just jealous.

GUEST

I already know you won't max out Crysis on one of these cards.... no chance.

But it'd be nice to have a couple of em eh ?

We don't talk about dual core anymore either lolz..

There is more and more games coming and which are already out which

utilise multiple cores, hehe even quad core.

8gb RAM, 4 core CPU's, Tri SLI, crossfireX, PCI-E V2, 1200watt PSU's, 64 bit OS's,

DX10.1, Vista... the latest and greatest with all the latest service packs and latest

drivers and mods and glitches and teething problems and mobo's which

overclock til you're blue in the face and leave you skint, in debt and unable to pay

your mortgage... and all in a pretty water cooled, disco lighted case lolz

Yes, for the fanatics amongst us and the envy of most of us too....

Especially the 2nd or 3rd placed 'next gen' console owners.

Here's to the PC..... :3:

Hey Hornet, i'm interested in the GX2, but one problem... how big are they? any chance you could measure it so i know for sure? I've seen 295mm / 265mm so far, i don't know what to believe. If it is 295mm it won't fit in my case. :(

Thats why i want to know. ;)

Thanks

I've had a problem with heat on this 9800GX2 but its never been cleaned and i have recently added the side panel back to my PC, which is normally off for the summer lol.

I spent a good 2 hours dismantling this card and putting it back together after a thorough clean and some fresh Thermal compound.

This ain't a job for the faint hearted and it looks like a very simple task judging from others on the net (here's one: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/GeForce_9800_GX2/4.html )

Its quite straight forward albeit a little fiddly, if anyone needs some pointers, gimme a shout.

I'll come back with some temps etc but with the best possible gfx settings and after a few games i was crashing, most likely GFX card heat as the temp following a reboot was 105c+

This card runs very hot anyway IDLE at 74/75c right now (2x GPU's) and settled there (speedfan)

GUEST
30-12-2009, 23:04
Well... I'm very pleased. 80c after a few good games and the temp drops almost instantly to 75c.

Dare i say it, it seems to be running cooler than when i bought it !

I was always used to see it Idle at 79 or so with the case side off. Cool

Rozonus
31-12-2009, 00:47
If you have air intake and exhaust fans, leaving the case side off messes up the airflow that would normally keep the components cooler anyway, no matter how hot the room temp is. I'm glad to hear that your card is finally working as intended!

GUEST
31-12-2009, 01:28
I've had no problem with the card at all until i put the case panel back on this morning. 2 fans on front inward bound and

2 on the back exhaust.
