View Full Version : *urgent* Blatant Repeated Cheating Throughout Entire Round On Camp Gib

One of the wost hacks in the game, which has been with us since the demo, and which I had REALLY hoped EA would fix with the 1.4 patch is the deny-of-command hack.
It's worse than an aimbot, as it affects not just individual players, but rather it deprives the entire team of all timely command support. :(
A walker was calling for supplies, and JUST before I could deploy them, I'm relieved of command by a hacker, and the walker is destroyed.
A squad were crying out for a UAV, and JUST before I could give it to them, I was relieved of command again, and the squad gets creamed.
In all, I had to apply for command about thirty or forty times throughout the game (every few seconds basically) in order to end up with the Commander's post.
I hadn't seen the hack being used in a while, but just now I was playing on timeless camp gib, and some nasty little low-life was using it like there was no tomorrow.
It's a known hack, and once the admin are aware of it, they can simply kick anyone stealing command by way of it (the guilty party is usually there ready to jump in and try to steal command before the former commander notices he's been relieved, whence he typically gives zero support, in order to help his main account playing on the other team - classical lowest of the low tactics from a hacker).
:(
So, admin, PLEASE be aware of this.
I attempted to bring it to your attention in the game, but it was very clear that no admin was present and conscious at the time.
Shame.
Yes i thought this was stopped too ?? Its something we were dealing with a lot early this year. Its a nuisance and these guys ultimately get banned. ;)

Sigh We have xfire and a shoutbox.
BIG sigh, well that's not good enough, because I've just experienced the THIRD round in two days were cheats were allowed to RUIN a game, and the admin did NOTHING AT ALL.
I hope people who don't use x-fire won't be punished for that by having to put up with a lack of in-game adminning. :(
This is what happened:
-----------------
I was playing earlier this evening at Camp Gib (Timeless). My team was PAC, and the round started out quite well. We appeared to have broken through the EU front-line nice and early.
But...
...even though our team were a strong lot who had just blitzed the last round magnificently, they were now struggling hard to get anywhere at all, and suddenly all early progress was undone.
A new player had appeared on the enemy team named "hortsSchlemmer". He's now banned, but not before he ruined a round.
He was gunning down everyone from far FAR away with a Bianchi and (obvious) aimbot. His k/d was ticking up faster than the altimeter on a gunship flying at the sun.
Yeah, I know that everyone and his brother cries "aimbot" when they get shot these days, but this guy was shamelessly creaming people as they spawned, from a normally impossible distance, again, and again, and again...
I spawned and started to head for the jeep, but was killed before I could take two steps. Around me were piles of bodies, freshly spawnkilled on the beach, not even faded out.
This is the point at which I wondered why the admin were not acting.
I hate x-fire from what I have seen of it, and I already have piles of crap on my machine. I don't want to have to start using yet another application just to bring cheats to the attention of admins, when any admin with their eyes open should just ban that sort of player at the drop of a hat.
I respect the fact that you are slow to ban, but anyone with their eyes open could see that he was a cheat.
Your liberal approach to adminning is (I think) a very positive thing, and I am generally against censorship on the net (of which banning is a kind). I have the banner for the Electronic Freedom Foundation on my home page, and I have talked in person with the founder, at some length, so PLEASE don't think I'm some kind of ban-nazi...
Unfair bans are wrong, but wrongful bans can be easily lifted, and any player who wrote to me asking to be unbanned back when I was a server admin would usually get unbanned, just because they asked. Most low-lifes and cheats will never even be bothered to seek out the relevant forum and post there in my experience.
Today though, I have sat through a round where the deny-of-command exploit was used from start to end, and no admin acted on the in-game protests. That is bad, and an admin has to take responsibilty for that rather than just calling me an egotist for complaining about it (as has happened).
Then I sat through the game which I described in this post.
I feel a little as though I've been made a bit of a scapegoat, ...as though I'm "making a fuss about nothing" ...as though "if only forces would stop going on about it, then everything would be fine..." when actually if only the admin had looked at what was happening in the game, everything really would have been fine.
If there's any bad feeling in the air, then please don't blame me. Blame the hackers.
I just really hope that people are not allowed to ruin entire rounds in future day after day while anyone who doesn't complain about it via x-fire is ignored, because that would suck.
Lastly, I know I have put your back up a bit by bringing this to your attention with more passion than the average player, but I want to say that I really do like you guys, and I place a very high value on your good humour and honest attempts to make the game fair. Please don't think I'm trying to score ego points off anyone. I'm just being honest.
I JUST don't want to have to sit through games watching cheaters be allowed to hack however they like for the whole round. That's all.

Heres a HUGE tip
FIND ANOTHER SERVER.
As much as we dont need hackers glitchers and baserapers we need loudmouths and overopininated players less.
Hackers and glitchers we eventually ban. Do you know what? they say very little. Our regulars report them and we deal with it.
Opinions we cant get pbbans to ban for. We have to accept them. suffer them. Bloody read them. I have much better things to do than have to deal with them.
Don't like the way we admin?
You know the answer.
Lets see World ranking?

The only strong opinion I have put forward is that cheaters ought to be punished before they have the chance to ruin people's games. Given that, I'm surprised to see such a hostile response from you in this matter.
Your server might be very high ranking, but that doesn't change the fact that I've seen cheats ruin three rounds in two days while no admin responded to the in game text from players attempting to draw their attention to the matter.
That's not ego, or opinion; it's just fact. I am not wrong to point it out, so please be less rude and arrogant. People don't have to be "loudmouths" to care about having wins stolen by hackers.
You are taking this FAR too personally too.
Best wishes,

If I am acting in a capacity as a representative of a group or organisation (such as you represent Timeless in the matter under discussion) then I don't take it personally when someone says "you", if they're talking about the group or organisation I represent.
I use "me" and "I" because the person playing the game and having his experience ruined by hackers was in this case me, although in principle it might have been anyone.
Similarly, although I am talking to you about this, I might just as well raise the matter with any Timeless admin.
On a personal note, I actually like you, and I respect the restraint you show even while having a go at me, so please don't allow my careless use of pronouns to colour the simple message here, which is about admins being present and receptive to in-game reports of cheats in real time.
If you tell me that that doesn't happen, and that it will generally never happen, then fine. Now I know, I can make my choice of server based on that.
However, if you ("you Timeless", not "you catziggy") tell me that admins ARE present in game and WILL respond to in-game text reports of cheaters live, then I can tell you that this hasn't been happening consistently for the past couple of days.
I still think you are among the best servers out there, so don't let this come across as either nitpicking or as a savage attack, when it really is neither of those things.
