ok have done Some teast and hear what i have noticed
Plz dont get me Wrong i am siding on lowering the number of player in the server I am not botherd

after 54 players the CLINT start to show FPS drop as far the server has no issue i think it is the game designe

i know i know some have some big problem with titan suez 60 players but lowering the setting of the game helps alot but we are trying to finde the ultimet selotion between # of players V fps
If you guys want me to drop the player and give it a shot 58 54 maybe let me know
what i need some of the regulaers player that i talk to and will see
one of the other think that i have Noticed as well Top players come play for 2 3 round and they leave cuz thay CAN Not score as much as thay use to do
due to 60 player titan server round end much faster then 48 player thus we harldy see some big numbers in score so My Big Q is
Is the 60 player FUN, Score Bettr , aa Spaamer that is extreamly dificult to control , My God you should look at the post ppl Are Going BANANA on sweering flaming , crap.com i think it need a real police,reaenforcement personal in their to watch this server i have prdict this server will go crazy and LAADS it has become ONE heheh

some of the players that i know thay can sniff any difirance of the performance in the server Are

Hornet <---- the bugger can sense if their is a bug walking on top of the server box

D35Fox <--- good data base wich server is the best out thair can tell bad from good server and seems that he always chang the setting to finde the best game play for himself
Epox-<-------- he know when a server need to be restart i dont know how but the bugger have the 6 sence heheh

I know peoples specs and settings can affect peoples fps/lag but AA SHEILD SPAMMING makes a massive difference to the server and individuals PCs. I've dropped my BF2142 video settings to compensate for the extra demand with 60-64 players and i'm comfortable until the titan AA nOObz try to kill enemy titan guns/sheilds etc (omg) Video settings i've dropped are... shaders/lighting in bf2142... AA down to 2x and my res is staying !! 1600x1200... this adjustment is coz of the gfx-cpu bottleneck i must have. My dual core 2.4ghz is not good enough for BF2142 online titan mode (it seems) This is due to bad game coding. Stop blaming the server guys !! Timeless have one hell of a top spec server. Drop ur settings... use a local server... STOP AA SPAMMIN etc !! So we can kill each other in peace. bottoms up. :)

We were running custom server as well. 2x Opteron, 4gig RAM, RAID10. We had problem with slight lags on 48 Titan Suez. While looking on server, the CPU max load were 30% and same RAMs. The problem was inet switch! We got new switch from our provider and there was absolutely no lag at all. How many servers ru running under same connection? That switch might be the same problem.Maybe...

if im honest i liked the 48 slot better, bigger scores and the game isnt over in like 15 min ^^ But im not really botherd if it stays 60 slot, as its a great server still with nice people ( apart from them AA spammers ) i think 54 slots would be good, but i still prefer 48 :)

Personnaly I think 64 players is the way to go, at least then you have a chance to get on the server, I'm also sure there is a way to reduce the lag or get rid of it. Hopefully we can find a solution to it. But I think there should be a message saying that people are not allowed to spam aa or shoot shields.

Just finished 1 round there. 64 players back on :D . Spend 90% of time in gunship (45 kills :oops: ) no lags until shileds down and after that very light lags here and there but mostly ok. Playable anyway so...

I preferred the 48 man, 60 man is too laggy for me, i play on the Timeless titan server now, i don't play Suez.

But if there was a way to reduce AA gun lag then that would be great, also if ea made it so there was an option on how close the titan's could be together.. E.g. no closer than 300m.

Why should close titans be a problem anyway... anyone would think the server was powered by a commodore 64 and we all had zx80 computers to play. We ain't so whats the problem? Theres issues with game prog? Theres issues with server/network? issues with AA spam etc

SO WHAT CAN BE DONE TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE THE LAG !!!!???

I preferred the 48 man, 60 man is too laggy for me, i play on the Timeless titan server now, i don't play Suez.

But if there was a way to reduce AA gun lag then that would be great, also if ea made it so there was an option on how close the titan's could be together.. E.g. no closer than 300m.


To run More then 48 players we need to run the server on Rcon mode and in this mode thier is no option where we can stop the titan

If ur not using low settings use them, i found when i ran high it would crash sometimes, and ingame it would lagg sometimes. Apart from that theres nothing we can do about the AA spammers. ^^

Well part of your lag problem is that fact that the server is not holding well with 60 plus players on the server. I would suggest lowering the amount of players that are allowed on the server as well as setting a Punk buster pink setting to kick anyone over 110. Any lag issues are due to how the server is being run. Try lowering the amount of players on a server down.

Yes i agree, drop ur settings.... Crashes due to unstable pc or game and even server/network conn. My point is.... why should we drop our settings for what seems to be a game that can run easily on max settings offline with 1x x1900xtx (4x AA @1600x1200) 2gig ram (1 with xp) and either of Athlon 4600 (2x 2.4ghz) or 3800(1x2.4ghz) cpu's. And i run 2x x1900xtx's crossfire online...
Not a top spec pc i admit but this peeee's on bf2142 offline as well as anythin DX9 i can throw at it.

So whats the problem?

I'm gonna remind u guys of the spec needed for BF2142 (off the back of game box).....

OS:XP CPU:1.7ghz RAM:0.5gb GFX:128mb NET:128kbps (for 2-64 players)

Obviously more in every dept is better. I will guarantee u that if u drop all ur settings to minimum and 800x600res No matter if u got bf2142 runnin on the forever faithful VIC-20 or 1000x QX6800's and 1000x 8800's with 1000tb ram.

WE WILL STILL LAG BAD ENOUGH..... And Your frames will drop below 60...

WHY? And how do we counter it? I'm no expert and i don't know the answers. Is anyone out there wise enough to help us or point us in the right direction? I'm not interested in what EA programmers have to say about it.

Ok.... so droppin players reduces lag? Or droppin players stops lag? About pings... I agree on one thing... high pings affect server latency and players latency connected to that server but i think 110 is a bit low. I ping below 30 mostly but due to network issues my ping increases greatly for wotever reason, (everybody's will at times) so i would get kicked. I check my current progs accessing the network regularly and stop anythin gettin in my way of BF2142 latency. If its based on a 110 average then i thats good enough for me.

Guys just to let you know in our CQ+NS server we dont have ping limit players can play thair with like 800 ping i dont know where are thay connecting from MARS maybe but that server 64 player never LAG now

I too agree with the set ping, but sometimes i get a ping incrase too, i mostley average at 30, but recently my ping can incrase up too 150, which is a pain, but does not happen that often.

the more players with high pings affects server ping which in return effects everyone elses ping theirfore creating lag,i run a 22 slot server with afew other admins not the biggest i know,but we cap our ping to 150 and never no lag only from internet connection sometimes,64 is way to many players in titan mode the maps are not big enough to cope with so much action in so small an area,which will also cause you lag,aa gun spamming the shields doesnt help,but is not the only factor here,64 man server everyone spamming from rdx to nade to aa guns,and you wonder why you get lag?plus main reason is the internet,you will never ever get rid of lag 100%,you will always get some but you can help reduce it by following afew of the above steps......
1.reduce server slots
2.cap ping
3.put ff on to stop rdx and nade spamming
4.ban anyone spamming shields
i am no expert but this is my view on this topic thats all,hope it helps in some way:)

From my own experience with counter strike, other peoples ping has nothing to do with your lag, even if everyone is over 100, if you are around 20, you vis a vis the server surrondings will see everything in real time without any lag, however you will see the high pingers jerk around the screen lagging away, this only affects your ability to shoot them but does not cause you lag.
However a minimum ping of 150 is wise, I only play on servers where my ping is 30 or less.

I think ff off and titan aa are factors, simple because they cause so many more calculations and interactions.

However Ashoof changed the server back to 48 man, I played a few rounds when it filled back up and I didn't experience any lag.

So basically proper titan mode with moving titans in close proximity ( which is what we all want) isn't really acheivable over 48 players without lag.

Finally I think the Suez 64 player titan was the only one in the world with moving titans and ff off, correct me if I'm wrong but I have yet to come across one.

i think it should stay 48 players, i mean you got higher scores, more fo a game and less of the lagg. Sure u have to wait a while to get in, but not that long.... and after all its worth the wait isnt it?

Also finding out and banning every single AA spammer would take way too long, and most of the admins would get bored of having to do it all the time...

I agree with that.48 players and lower da pings please. 120ms is enough and 90% of players is under 100 anyway so... There is a good chance with max ping 120, that i might get on full server soon cos there is gona be often someone kicked for high ping :wink:

I think we need to set a ping average limit to about 150 and stay on 48 players until we iron out all issues. Keep kickin the AA spammers but i don't think they should be banned as, to be honest i did it when i was new... U live and learn. If U got a brig gen Spammin sheilds then i would give em a warning then ban as i'm sure they know better. FF-ON is not an option for me, nor static titans as these are options that brought me to timeless in the 1st place and i'm sure a lot of good players visit for the same thing. I don't like being punished for accidental kills etc. Of course ur never gonna stop lag but it can be reduced greatly. I used to play a lot of different servers and some servers had no lag with the same options as timeless. I visit one yest-d, same options and no lag, there were a lot of good players too, and i whitnessed sheild spammin and no lag which i found strange. I'm sure there is something we can do to stop this lag. Ash has got a good rig guys, the best and he wants us to enjoy timeless and game well. Help him solve this. This could be to do with the service he's getting, it could be a minor server setting, In any case I see servers with same settings and no lag, so wots up? DEFO mentioned a switch of some sort helped their server? Why did it help and is it worth the cost?
