For those a little less in the know (like me) who just want a straight benchmark comparison, I found this page of charts pretty useful when I bought my last PC for comparing CPU performance: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/index.php

They have similar pages of charts for GPUs (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/) and HDDs/SSDs (http://www.harddrivebenchmark.net/) too.

The charts are updated frequently every time new hardware is released.
