I was going to return my 7900 recently as I was getting weird black lines and other graphic disturbances ingame, sometimes really preventing me from playing properly, so today I thought I would take it out and remount it.
I took of the cooler, cleaned the chip and washed the dirt of the cooler, got some paste and remounted the cooler, then cleaned the contacts. Reinstalled the card and it's working perfect now and the temps are a little cooler now, they seem to stay below 50C

Yeah m8 always a v good move... Another thing to do is rub the connecting edge strips with a cotton bud. Just make sure u protect the card and mobo etc from ESD - Electro static discharge... its a pc component killer. Useful info on the precautions of ESD here....

http://www.pccomputernotes.com/esd/esd.htm

I'm sure most gamers are aware of ESD etc hope this helps those who aren't so aware. ;)

Ash, don't u think 1.3 ghz is too fast? I would say 1000 rpm and non bio washing powder m8 :D

Yeah I just used some tissue with lighter fluid to clean the contacts, I usually touch the inside of the case or the psu before touching any components, that's usually enough to release any static charge.

so long as its still plugged in the mains lol ;)

U light the fluid like i do? That does as good a job as a washing machine.

Damn my graphics card is giving up on me :/ I will have to order a new one next week. Hopefully I can have it up and running within 10 days. Then I can rma the old one.
Can't wait 3 to 5 weeks for them to replace it, don't think I could survive that long playing double wires on the laptop lol
