View Full Version : Dead DVD Drive Need Help
Hi guys
MY DVD drive has died, I am getting a replacement on Wednesday, I can show my legit copy of BF2142 to anyone on webcam if they need to see, however of course I cannot game without my disk.
Is their anyway you could help me get back into the field one soldier to another :roll:
i know some sites to get dvd/cd - cracks .. but its illegal so i dont know if you are allowed to play with it in bf2142... changed files and pb might catch you as cheater ?
would not risk it since its a loss of 50€ then (at least in germany the price =P)
but perhaps you can send a support email to ea and ask them if this is allowed =)

but why dont you use an image?
An Image??? I don't follow, I basically just could use a method to game till Wednesday when I'll bung in a new one.
IF I am at risk of loosing my ID for it then I will just have to potter on with what games I have which don't use cd.
hmm dont know if you call it in english as we do... there are some tools that can "create" any amount of drives on your pc (only virtual)
and then you can put some "images" into those devices and your pc thinks you have a cd/dvd in this device and you can start it then...
i think thats illegal too but pm me if you wanna try that =P
Hmmm I guess I am out then I don't fancy pushing my luck with EA and PB.

You need Daemon tools to load an image, if you have the disk space available and have Daemon tools it shouldn't be too difficult. You can also use Alcohol 120% and it has more features. Both software can be used to create a virtual drive and copy the image of your game to it.
It means you don't have to use the cd/dvd in you drive, so people can run a cracked version of the game but you can only play online in ranked servers with a legitimate cd key.
Without a DVD drive to copy the image, it should be possible to find an iso image on the net or a friend who will copy one and send it to you. The how to can easily be found by googling. As for punkbuster, I don't see how that can be a problem, your using an iso image of your dvd, punkbuster checks if game files are changed etc.
Benefits, you don't have to change dvd for every game, game loads 5 times faster. If you don't use this then you can easily scratch dvds when changing them, then you have to buy the game again ;) You would still have your dvd drive ;)
Cons: It takes a few minutes to set up ^^ Game companies hate it, they do everything to stop you. However this security aspect is aimed at crackers not legitimate owners. Hasn't stopped crackers, still pisses off legitmate owners

go to www.megagames.com or www.gamecopyworld.com. there you will find a cd crack which won't get you kicked by pb.
i had to do it when i was having problems with my drive recognising the disk on vista.
lol yea but does anyone of you think pb will allow this? perhaps if you got banned and you complain about the fact your device is broken and lala
perhaps ea will give you your cd key back or will unban it.. but i wont risk doing the image thing =) neither the cd crack..
it could work but you really wanna risk it? only 2 days to go so xD take a walk with your wife and dont know have fun and soon you can play bf again =)

I wouldnt trust using no cd hacks. Who knows what spyware they have in there.
you can do that for offline games (illegal but no one realizes) but not online games =)
Got one today for a bargain price of £22.50 a Liteon DVDRW drive, so should be back on the field tonight.

Errrr isn't it cheaper to download the game from ea? then you dont need a drive in a hurry
he needs the dvd to RUN the game not to INSTALL it =)

Yeah Battlefield 2142 asks for the disk to run, and now I have my drive installed I will be online around 10pm UK time or a little later.
